Fitzsimmons had everything but size. Great, great P4P fighter. That left hand to the body that finished Corbett was a true one-bodypunch knockout.

I wish there was film of him taking out Tom Sharkey. Sharkey had a granite chin, was built like a **** brickhouse, and could take a punch anywhere...Fit iced him like nothing.

To top it off, he was one of the funniest looking, most awkward guys to ever win a title.

if he had a 'granite chin' then fits beat him with his left hook to the body correct?

He was also the oldest guy ever to win the title (35) up to that point.

                - -First full length feature film ever recorded, a dandy vs brute force before Ali/Frazier ever became an item.

Wyatt Earp provided the guns to protect Corbett interests with Bat Masterson the time keeper.

                Phantom punch KO.

International blockbuster that created the impetus for the first movie theaters!

You'd think Hollywood and History would pay better homage, but nope. Too busy producing modern shinola for fans to eat up.

Fitzsimmons wrote years later that the blow he landed in actuality was not a left hook. Fitz stated that he just “straightened his arm out” and it was not a full force blow. It had enough power to drop Corbett for the ten count.

                    - -It was a hybrid LHk/upper cut up the gut.

The same punch that KOed Sharkey that Earp ruled an illegal punch to DQ Fitz, hence Corbett hiring Earp for his gun posse for this fight.

Hard to believe that 1890s audiences worldwide saw 99% better footage than we do in the third millennium...only in boxing, folks!
