Jack johnson and dempsey aren't top 10 and its the ****in truth.
clearly you know more than all the experienced posters here put together!

the first time i heard the name 'jack dempsey' it was a tropical fish i bought! The fiosh was so named because it would stnad toe to toe with even much larger fish and inevitibly beat them up!

dempsey was an animal in the ring but at the same time quite technical

took offense at that didn't you.

seems strange how someone randomly joined up and voiced your exact oppinions and then 5 minutes later you are the first to reply in an ass licking manner.

Dempsey was an ''animal'' but looked like superman against Willard because of the rules back then. No standing 8 count. I am more used to watching fight from the newer Era's, so seeing Willard get no chance at all to get to his sences, no 8 count, just hanging on the ropes before Dempsey could swarm back all over him. Nevertheless, Dempsey was an Animal and he would have finished the job anyhow that day.

Awesome bravery by Willard too. I think we should use George's phrase as ''Heart of a Lion!'' and then point at Willard.

There is no denying dempsey was a ferocious aggressive fighter however his legacy and greatness has been overrated and blown up and that is fact.

He's still good enough to be at least mentioned in the top ten, that's for sure.

Top 10's are all about Legacy and Accomplishments. Dempsey sure as hell cracks the Top 5 at most people's lists, a lot in the Top 3 too.

Even in head-to-head, he's in there as well.

Explosive, dominating fighters always stand a chance in the head-to-head department. Dempsey was a great champion in the early stages of a developmental time for heavyweight boxing. The first ones are never forgotten. Even if he may not be able to stand up to champions of more recent years (because of training, diets, size, etc.), he will rank among the top forever. He was a tough and savage SOB; no if's and's or but's.
