    That's why I don't count Lewis as a 3 time.

Even with as big of a fan of his that I am, I can admit that the Ruiz title is BS.

          Good Man!

But, can you admit that the WBA and IBF straps he won from Tyson and Moorer were also meaningless because George Foreman had lost the lineal champiionshiop to Shannon Briggs who lost it to Lennox Lewis?

I wouldn't call it meaningless ,but as far as the true history you are right . But if you do this the Ali was not a 3 time either .

No, technically, he was. Whether you count Frazier as champ due to his beating Mathis and Ellis and then Ali or just that Ali was lineal until he lost the title to Frazier, he still regained it from Foreman; and he lost the title to Spinks and regained it in New Orleans.

S'allright. lol!! I'm half asleep myself....don't know why I'm working this early in the morning..on the freakin' weekend.

I must admit it pains me that Holy-Tyson wasn't for the "real" championship. That would have been a thing of beauty. It still was incredible that Evander did what he did because everybody, myself included, thought he was shot; but if anyone deserved to be called a "3-Time Champ" alongside Ali, he earned it that night. Just pisses me off that "technically" it didn't count.

Well, to tell you the truth, it irritates me that the two didn't meet in '91; but taht wasn't Holy's fault neither........but it sure would have laid a lot of unanswered questions to rest.

I mean really Tyson was thought to have still been the best Hv of the time which is what the lineal really is for . Looking back we now know it was prob Lewis but at that time Holy was fighting the baddest man on the planet even if it did not fallow the legit line of history it was the number one fight .

Yeah, it ended up being the best fight out there at the time, no doubt. It just bugs me that both were past their best when they met. I've often equated their first encounter with Ali and Frazier in Manilla because that's about were both were in their careers.

I think for that fight just about everybody overestimated Tyson because they were so happy "he was back" that they were seeing what they wanted to see more than what was really there. And likewise everybody underestimated Holyfield and thought he was shot due to his being stopped by Bowe. I'd even go so far as to say the second Bowe loss was probably responsible for King making the fight. To tell you the truth, it pissed me off at the time because I thougt they were dodging the best competition and taking a shot fighter for his name.

Man, was I wrong....or they were.
