Corbett style was similar to Tunney but Tunney was a master boxer, Corbet simply move around.....Tunney was boxing as we know it today....big differnce

Tunney's father was an admirer of the old pugilists, particularly Jim Corbett and Bob Fitzsimmons. Tunney was a much better pure boxer then Corbett, but Corbett was one of the very few that actually boxed back then, Tunney just took it to the next level.

Many people dont like lennox and holyfield but both would have kicked the crap out of dempsey, johnson, tunney and patterson.

Lewis vs. Dempsey - Interesting fight but I think Dempsey would manage to beat him although I could see a Lewis win happening. I go with Dempsey by KO in 7 rounds.
Lewis vs. Johnson - I think Lewis takes this one by a Unanimous decision.
Lewis vs. Tunney - Another interesting fight. I think Tunney would outbox Lewis to win a UD. But due to Lewis' size and skill I can see him winning. I give it to Tunney.
Lewis vs. Patterson - I think Lewis would win this with an 8th round TKO.
Holyfied vs. Dempsey - Good fight here. Dempsey by Unanimous Decision or late stoppage.
Holyfied vs. Johnson - Difficult to decide this one. Johnson though by a close UD.
Holyfied vs. Tunney - Tunney would be victorious by unanimous decision win.
Holyfied vs. Patterson - Holyfield by Unanimous Decision.

I don't see, judging by what I have above, how Lewis or Holyfield would kick the crap out of all of these fighters.

dempsey beating lennox, wow. He dint even want to fight blacks in the first place. Holyfield is far more skilled than dempsey too, wake up and realize that great fighters are from today's era too. Dont give the old guys some invincible traits, many of them are vastly overrated.

Your right Dempsey didn't box any blacks, BUT your not giving the old timers their just do. You can only rate the boxers on who they fought.

I met Lewis and he is very nice and he would be trouble for Dempsey because of his size, BUT if Dempsey did get inside and hit Lewis, it would be OVER.

Most of dempsey's opponents were guys that are less than 200 pounds, to even think he would have a chance against lennox is sheer ******ity. Not to mention the fact that lennox had skill.

I think Lewis would be too much size, strength, power, in addition to his skill, for Dempsey. I agree with the evolution part somewhat. I mean, it's different for people of the same weight class (although there's weigh-in rules), but obviously it's going to be very tough for a very skilled 200 lb fighter like Louis or 185 lb guy like Marciano to face a skilled 240 lb fighter in Lewis.

But I rank lists more on accomplishments than head-to-head.
