I agree that Gerald did have pretty fast combos from range. However, as far as him competeeing with roy in that category their is no contest. He was a solid stalker though. Cut off the ring better than Benn and seemed to keep his cool. but the key is that he would get hit entirely too much. He was rocked by Julian jackson for being reckless. He just whethered the storm and actually did not put him away until after a head butt that took Julian out of the fight. I also give toney the edge at super middle because JT has a lot of power at that weight and he was a pretty crafty defensive fighter. The gerald that was with E Steward would have been a lot better than the gman who fought benn

Even though I do believe the stories of Gerald being a ****ing twat (to animals and women alike) of a man, I still cry when I see the way he is today, no one deserves that.

Anyway, it’s hard to place him as a great. Had he beat Benn, he’d then go to a fight with Jones Jr which would really be the fight which determines his legacy. But maybe the Benn fight shows how good a fighter he really was. From the fight we see he was a strong guy who looked to end the fight early but was a guy who underestimated his opponents (Benn may have been past it but was still a beast even at 168) and a guy who was venerable latter on. Honestly, even without the clot, I see Benn hitting him to sleep in the 12th.

I’ve scored the fight and have it Gerald just (due to the 8th round). My favourite fight of all time. It sums up boxing perfectly, both exciting and brutal, a true war.

            greatest ever? no way

greatest fighter of the 90s? maybe for sure we should have seen great fights with hop, rj, toney. does anyone else thinks that in the 40s-50s-60s these four would have had great trilogies with each and every one of the others?

it actually really pisses me off to think that those talents crossed so rarely.

he also said other stuff about how he totally forgot boxing and bodywork in the last few fights, gman was starting to believing his own hype, a-la tyson.

when you compare him with the 3 greats of the 90s, it is painfully obvious how he lacked tactic and character, compared to them. for this reason i feel he would have given them great fights, but in the close fights that those would be this would have been his shortcoming.

                    Cool article: http://www.findarticles.com/p/articl...5/ai_n13967948

Says he under-trained for the Milton fight and over-trained for the Ward fight, but got it right after that.
