Ryan Garcia has begged, pleaded, and called for a showdown against Gervonta Davis for the better part of the past five years. However, despite his public call-outs, Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) has shown very little interest, claiming that Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) would provide him with little to no competition. Nevertheless, after years of continual back-and-forth trash talk, both fighters have recently sat down jointly, in an attempt to turn their mouthwatering showdown into reality.

In a candid conversation with BoxingScene.com, Henry Garcia, the father of Ryan Garcia, openly confessed that while discussions are still ongoing, the finish line is ostensibly within reach.

“We’ve prepared for this fight that everybody wants,” said Henry. “It’s very, very close to being announced. There’s just a few things that need to be ironed out. But for the most part, we're like in the high 90 percent ratio.”

News of their impending clash meshes well with the recent announcement of both fighters. Earlier this week on their respective social media accounts, the pair tweeted out, “done deal” in close proximity to one another.

Should their captivating matchup come to fruition, Davis will be given the opportunity to permanently close the mouth of his second consecutive rival. On May 28th, earlier this year, Davis had grown sick and tired of listening to the perpetual trash talk of Rolando “Rolly” Romero, stopping his man in the sixth round.

As for Ryan, after hitting the reset button for well over a year to address his mental health, the 24-year-old has racked up two consecutive victories, the latest coming of the knockout variety. Now, with the pair simply crossing their t’s and dotting their i’s, Henry smiled widely. While he’s unable to reveal an exact date and location, he assures the boxing world that a mega showdown between Davis and his son will certainly take place next.

“I can’t give those details out but I can say for sure that it’s going to happen. I’m telling you right now, that is our next fight.”
