Danish trainer and former amateur boxer Ricard Olsen passed away this past weekend at the age of 72. Olsen trained fighters at the CIK Gym in Copenhagen and the club was for many years among the best in Scandinavia. One fighter he trained from day one was Mikkel Kessler, who went on to superstardom. Kessler was in later years trained by Jimmy Montoya but it was Ricard Olsen who helped shape the Dane in his younger days.

An Olsen-trained fighter was well schooled, well conditioned and knew what do in the ring using the jab, right hand and a "killing" punch in the left hook to the body. Other fighters trained by Olsen was Rudy Markussen, Mads Larsen, Frank Olsen, Steffen Norskov and Tue Bjorn Thomsen.

Anita Lindblom has passed away at the age of 82. She was a big star in her own right when she met the by then former EBU light middleweight champion Bo Hogberg but together they reached superstardom in a relationship that had it all and the media just loved it.

For Hogberg it meant he drifted away from boxing and eventually landed in jail while Lindblom faced a lot of problems with the taxman and left Sweden and never really got her career back on track. Her version of 'You Can Have Her' from 1961 is a classic with the Swedish lyrics written by Stickan Andersson, who some 15 years later hit the big time as manager for ABBA.

Amanda Serrano, 38-1-1 (28ko's), this girl can fight good technique, power, and chin. I hope this fight comes through for her, it'll pressure Katie Taylor into possibly fighting her. They both deserve a big payday, if Katie Taylor isn't careful…
