Daniel Dubois is ready to do his part to move towards a highly anticipated all-British heavyweight showdown later this year.

First up for arguably the best heavyweight prospect in the world is a scheduled 12-round clash versus Netherlands’ Ricardo Snijders (18-1, 8KOs). Their bout takes place Saturday evening live from BT Sport Studio in East London, airing live on BT Sport in the U.K. and ESPN+ in the U.S. (2:00pm ET).

Both boxers clocked in at a career-heaviest weight, though well-proportioned on their respective frames.

Dubois (14-0, 13KOs) weighed 244 pounds, while Snijders—a late replacement for medically-scratched Erik Pfeifer—checked in at 215 pounds.

Dubois fights for the first time in 2020 after a breakout 2019 campaign which saw the Londoner—who celebrates his 23rd birthday in early September—score four knockout wins in as many fights. The most impressive of the lot was a 5th round stoppage of countryman Nathan Gorman in their battle of unbeaten heavyweight prospects last July.

Another such showdown waits in the wings later this year. Dubois is tentatively set for a thrice-scheduled clash with 2016 Olympic Silver medalist Joe Joyce (11-0, 10KOs), with their bout due to take place on October 17th in London. Joyce did his part earlier this summer, scoring a 3rd round knockout of Germany’s Michael Wallisch in this very same venue this past July.

Snijders doesn’t figure to disrupt those plans but was at least willing to answer the call. The 26-year old career-long cruiserweight—who moved up in weight last September—was due to appear on the undercard of this show and was the designated standby opponent in the event his services were needed for the evening’s headliner, which turned out to be the case.

 - Croydon’s rising junior bantamweight Sunny Edwards (14-0, 4KOs) weighed 114.7 pounds for a scheduled 12-round regional title fight versus Thomas Essomba (10-5, 4KOs), a Cameroon native who now lives in West Midlands and who weighed 114.2 pounds for the evening’s chief support;

- Liverpool’s Sam Maxwell (13-0, 11KOs) tipped the scale at 139.1 for a scheduled 10-round junior welterweight battle versus Malmesbury’s Joe Hughes (17-5-1, 7KOs), who came in at a fighting fit 139 pounds.
