Two unbeaten boxing brothers from Gibraltar will fight in Derby, England, on December 20 in their first bouts on British soil.
Evan and Kriss Montegriffo will box at the Vaillant Live Arena on the undercard of local star Alan Graves, 5-0 (5 KOs), versus Germany’s David Kerkmann, 27-3 (23 KOs).
“This is a massive opportunity for Evan and Kriss to showcase their skills on a big international stage,” said Leon Tesciuba, spokesperson at GeckoPlay, which sponsors the brothers. “Both brothers have shown incredible talent since turning professional, but competing in the UK takes them to another level entirely.”
The Montegriffo siblings turned professional earlier this year. Heavyweight Kriss is 1-0 (1 KO) and Evan, a super middleweight, is 1-0. They are managed by former world flyweight titleholder Sunny Edwards.
“What makes the brothers so appealing is their contrasting styles,” Tesciuba added. “Kriss brings raw power and knockout potential that fans love, while Evan is a more technical fighter with superb ring craft.”
Getting the call to fight in Derby, the brothers said, was something they had been working toward for months.
“British fight fans appreciate technical skill and heart above anything else,” Tesciuba said. “The Montegriffos bring both in spades, which is why this Derby appearance is such a perfect fit. This isn't just about one night in Derby. It's about putting Gibraltar boxing on the map. These brothers carry their nation’s flag into the ring, and a strong showing could open doors for other fighters from the Rock.”
