At the Manchester Arena in Manchester, Dmitry Bivol retained his WBA light heavyweight world title via a unanimous decision despite a spirited performance from South Londoner Craig Richards.
Bivol, Richards Fight Photos Gallery - Manchester Arena, Manchester - WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol (18-0, 11 KOs) ended a long stint of inactivity with a twelve round unanimous decision over a game Craig Richards (16-2-1, 9 KOs).
Dmitry Bivol made a successful seventh defense of his WBA light-heavyweight title but did nothing to greatly boost his reputation as he was taken the distance by Craig Richards in Manchester. The Russian claimed a unanimous decision and two of the judges scores were probably generous to the Londoner, but this was risk-free stuff from Bivol, who had gone the full 12 rounds in his previous four defenses.
Former British light heavyweight Champion Shakan Pitters will be backing old foe Craig Richards in his WBA World title challenge against Dmitry Bivol tomorrow night.
