Viewership wasn’t quite as high for FOX’s headliner Saturday night as it was for FOX’s first main event of 2021, but Anthony Dirrell and Kyrone Davis still drew a sizable audience.

Figures released Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research showed Dirrell-Davis was watched by an average audience of 1,267,000. Their 12-round super middleweight match, which resulted in a split draw, attracted a peak audience of 1,465,000.

The overall average viewership for FOX’s three-bout telecast from Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles was 981,000.

Figures from Nielsen don’t include viewers that streamed those three fights through the FOX Sports app. FOX didn’t release streaming numbers from the Dirrell-Davis tripleheader.

Dirrell-Davis aired four weeks after unbeaten IBF super middleweight champ Caleb Plant helped attract a peak audience in excess of 2 million for his 12-round, unanimous-decision victory over former champ Caleb Truax.

Nielsen noted that the bout between Plant (21-0, 12 KOs), of Ashland City, Tennessee, and Truax (31-5-2, 19 KOs, 1 NC), of St. Michael, Minnesota, drew an average audience of 1,887,000 and a peak audience of 2,019,000. Plant-Truax was the most-watched “FOX PBC Fight Night” main event in 13 months.

The Dirrell-Davis fight was much more competitive than Plant-Truax four weeks later.

Dirrell (33-2-2, 24 KOs), a former WBC 168-pound champ from Flint, Michigan, defeated Davis on the scorecard of judge Pat Russell, 115-113. Judge Lou Moret scored the fight 115-113 for Davis (15-2-1, 6 KOs), of Wilmington, Delaware.

Judge Zachary Young scored Dirrell-Davis a draw, 114-114.

The opener of FOX’s telecast, Vito Mielnicki Jr.’s third-round knockout of Noe Lopez, averaged 809,000 viewers.

Mielnicki (8-0, 5 KOs), an 18-year-old welterweight prospect from Roseland, New Jersey, dropped Lopez (10-4-1, 4 KOs), of Spring, Texas, with a right hand in the second round. He continuously assaulted and stopped Lopez in the following round, with Lopez still standing.

The second of three fights FOX aired, Jesus Ramos’ second-round knockout of Jesus Bojorquez, drew an average viewership of 773,000.

The 19-year-old Ramos (15-0, 14 KOs), a 147-pound prospect from Casa Grande, Arizona, floored Bojorquez with a right hook in the second round. The Mexican veteran got up, but Ramos stopped him soon thereafter.

Like Lopez, Bojorquez was still on his feet when their scheduled 10-round welterweight bout was stopped.
