Diego De La Hoya Tops LA Fight Club on Sept. 4th

LOS ANGELES - A great new way to kick off the weekend, fans will now be able to catch the hottest fights at LA FIGHT CLUB in downtown Los Angeles on a new night of the week. Beginning September 4, the popular series will take place the first Friday of every month with the next installment featuring rising star Diego De La Hoya (11-0, 7 KOs) of Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico who will make his return to LA FIGHT CLUB. De La Hoya will fightin a 10-round featherweight bout against an opponent to be determined. Fans outside of the Los Angeles area can get in on all the action, as the popular series will now broadcast live nationally on Estrella TV at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT.

LOS ANGELES - LA FIGHT CLUB returns to the historic Belasco Theater on Thursday, July 2 for a kickoff to the Fourth of July weekend celebrations with a special broadcast on FOX Deportes. In the main event, Gilberto "El Flaco" Gonzalez (25-3, 20 KOs) of Mexico City will take on the undefeated John Karl Sosa (13-0, 6 KOs) of Caguas, Puerto Rico in a 10-round super lightweight bout sure to excite fans. In the co-main event undefeated featherweight, Diego De La Hoya (10-0, 6 KOs) of Mexicali, Mexico returns to LA FIGHT CLUB in a scheduled eight-round fight against Jose "Hollywood" Estrella (14-6-1, 10 KOs) of Tijuana, Mexico. Opening up the telecast, Los Angeles transplant Oscar "El Jaguar" Negrete (10-0, 3 KOs) will face Ramiro Robles (12-3-1, 6 KOs) of Guanajuato, Mexico in an eight-round bout. In the non-televised undercard, undefeated Los Angeles native, Emilio Sanchez (8-0, 6 KOs) will make his third appearance at LA FIGHT CLUB in a six-round super bantamweight fight. Also returning to the series, Cesar "The Great" Quiñonez (2-0, 1 KOs) of Las Vegas, Nevada will fight in a for a four-round super lightweight brawl. Opponents will be announced shortly.

Belasco Theatre, Los Angeles - Super bantamweight Manuel “Tino” Avila (17-0, 7 KOs) continued his streak of wins with a dominating ten round unanimous decision over Erik Ruiz (13-3, 6 KOs). All three judges saw it 100-90. Featherweight prospect Diego De La Hoya (10-0, 6 KOs) won an eight round unanimous decision over Ramiro Robles (12-3-1, 6 KOs). All three judges scored it as a one-sided wipeout with cards of 80-72.

Junior featherweight Diego De La Hoya will now fight Ramiro Robles on Thursday night, manager Joel De La Hoya told Boxingscene.com late Monday night. The eight round bout will take place at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles, Calif. and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports Deportes, beginning at 10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT. De La Hoya (9-0, 6 KOs) is the younger cousin of Oscar De La Hoya. In his last bout on Feb. 27, De La Hoya won a one-sided eight round unanimous decision over former world title challenger Manuel Roman.

Super-sized heavyweight Taishan opened up the Fox Sports 1 telecast with a four-round decision over Roy McCrary. Scores were 40-34 (twice) and 39-35 in favor of the 7'0" Taishan (3-0, 2KOs), who dropped McCrary in round three but was still given a bit of a fight the rest of the way.

Looks like the Golden Boy Promotions fight card on February 27 is beginning to take shape.
