Devin Haney: Lopez, Davis, Garcia Are Good - But I'm Special!

Undefeated WBC lightweight world champion Devin "The Dream" Haney (25-0, 15 KOs), retained his title on November 7 against former 2004 Olympic Gold medalist and two-time world champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (30-4, 18 KOs) in a dominant performance to secure a lopsided twelve round unanimous decision in Florida.

Hanye is now targeting the top names at the weight - including unified champion Teofimo Lopez, WBA 'regular' champion Gervonta Davis, and rising star Ryan Garcia.

"I am the best boxer in the lightweight division, Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia and Teofimo Lopez are good fighters, but I’m special. My skill set is on another level and they all know it.  I’m the best. Everyone else is talking a good game until it is time to sign the contract to fight me. All I do is dominate!" said Haney.

Haney who defeated Gamboa with the scores of 120-107 on two cards and 118-109, controlled the action from the start of the fight until the last bell rang. Gamboa never seemed to be in serious trouble, but was thoroughly outboxed in nearly every round.

"Devin dominated every round," said William Haney, Haney's trainer, and father.

"Gamboa was thoroughly outclassed in this fight. Devin is still young and growing as a fighter and for some people that’s a scary thought. Saturday he was cool, calm and in control from the start to finish. His style is a problem for any fighter. Devin makes you do the things he wants you to do in the ring. My son is the matador and those other guys are the bulls”

Haney aims to make his next defense in the first quarter of 2021.

[QUOTE=whollisboxing;20878562]Time will tell if he is actually a special fighter. For now I see a well-rounded pure boxer who appears to be greater than the sum of his parts. You could argue that he should have stopped Gambia and that’s…

[QUOTE=Boxingfanatic75;20878959]Why do people say Loma is a “natural 126 lber?” KOd Linares for the title Beats Pedraza handily KOd Crolla Beats Campbell He fought at LW for TWO YEARS Using your logic I guess Manny is a “natural Light Flyweight/Flyweight”…

[QUOTE=boxingitis;20878358]You dont have more skills than Loma. Yes Loma lost to Lopez, but not because of skills. He lost being scared of Lopez power, or he lost to have a Trilogy with Teo. The first half of the fight was…

I never liked Bill Haney but always respected Devin Haney's skills and potential but it's getting harder and harder to like this kid. He is seriously basking in his own hype and starting to sound like Wilder with his self…
