Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya is hoping that Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs) vs. Manny Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38KOs) comes off.

Discussions continue to make Mayweather vs. Pacquiao on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

If the fight happens, De La Hoya would have a conflict. The former champion turned promoter is going to stage Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's next fight on the same date, likely against James Kirkland at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. A Mayweather-Pacquiao fight would force De La Hoya to move that fight.

During his career as a fighter, De La Hoya faced both Pacquiao and Mayweather. De La Hoya lost a close twelve round split decision to Mayweather in 2007 and was stopped by Pacquiao in 2008.

If the fight happens, De La Hoya hopes Pacquiao wins. Over the years, there has been bad blood between De La Hoya and Mayweather.

"As a fan, I hope the fight takes place. It's very important for the world of boxing that it happens, but nobody knows what's going on. Nobody knows, only the fighters and their teams. For personal reasons, for myself, I would prefer that Manny Pacquiao wins," said De La Hoya.
