Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya is confident his man, IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31KOs), will send shockwaves in the boxing industry on October 17th when he defeats WBA/IBO champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs) at New York's Madison Square Garden.

The fight will be carried by HBO Pay-Per-View and the winner will become the mandatory challenger to the WBC championship fight between Miguel Cotto and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on November 21 in Las Vegas.

Golovkin is very confident and already discussing potential fights with Cotto, Canelo, Andy Lee and even called for a dream fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"Golovkin's confidence level is very high, but he will suffer a hard return to reality on October 17. Golovkin cannot afford to look ahead because nobody has been beaten yet. Looking too far ahead can sometimes be very distracting," De La Hoya said.

Lemieux is feeling a big boost of confidence from the support he's receiving from De La Hoya and Golden Boy partner Bernard Hopkins.

"To have two legends like Oscar and Bernard supporting me, it adds a lot of fuel to the fire. They have already shown me a little road, but now it's my turn to continue on it. There won't be anything that's easy, but I have confidence in my abilities," Lemieux said.
