David Haye: record, next fight and profile →
David Haye will get his shot at redemption December 10. According to a report posted Monday afternoon by The Sun, Tony Bellew and Haye have agreed to fight again that day at O2 Arena in London. Bellew stopped a hobbled Haye in the 11th round of their heavyweight fight March 4 at O2 Arena.
"I OBLIGE YOU!" It looks as though Tony Bellew has said yes to a rematch with David Haye on Sunday, December 17. Yesterday was a flurry of activity with reports suggesting that the fight had been agreed for eight days before Christmas at London's O2 Arena. Haye himself backed up the speculation by taking to Twitter saying: "It’s taken months of negotiating but teams have finally agreed ALL terms for #HayeBellew2 Will Bellew put pen to paper?" !#RevengeOrRepeat
Former WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew would love to completely end the run of domestic rival David Haye. Bellew dropped his title to move up to heavyweight division to face Haye in a pay-per-view blockbuster back in March. In a shocker, Bellew stopped the former two division world champion in the eleventh round at the O2 Arena in London.
Tony Bellew could be set for another major fight on a Sunday. After winning the WBC Cruiserweight title on Sunday, May 29, 2016 against Illunga Makabu, the 34-year-old Liverpudlian may be tasked with once again trying to beat heavyweight rival David Haye later this year.
Tony Bellew was shocked when he received word that David Haye was gunning for a 2018 showdown with IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. Haye, 36 years old, is planning to return to the ring in December, but he's yet to name his comeback opponent. He's been out of the ring since a March TKO defeat at the hands of Bellew, which saw Haye suffer a severe Achilles injury that required surgery in the aftermath of the eleven round stoppage.
David Haye (28-3, 26 KOs) still has ambitions to face Anthony Joshua (19-0, 19 KOs) in 2018. The former cruiserweight king and WBA heavyweight champion will return to action in December after recovering from an Achilles injury suffered in his loss to Tony Bellew in March.
As BoxingScene.com previously reported, David Haye remains on course to return to the ring later this year and expects his opponent to be confirmed in the coming fortnight. The heavyweight is again in the gym as he continues his recovery from the Achilles injury that undermined him during his defeat by Tony Bellew in March.
The trainer whose jaw was broken by a punch from David Haye as he brawled with Dereck Chisora has targeted getting "even" by ruining the professional debut of his protege Joe Joyce. In his promoter's guise, Haye has ambitiously matched Joyce with respected domestic heavyweight Ian Lewison in a match-up that represents a significant risk, even for a 2016 Olympic silver medallist.
Former world heavyweight champion David Haye said on Wednesday he would return to the ring before the end of the year but remained coy on the details. The 36-year-old Briton, who has 28 wins from 31 bouts, ruptured an Achilles tendon in his defeat to underdog Tony Bellew in London in March. The former WBA heavyweight champion, who was advised by doctors to retire after he underwent major shoulder surgery in 2013, has had long periods out of the ring without ever officially calling it a day.
Former world boxing champion David Haye is still gunning for a world title showdown in 2018 with the World Boxing Association (WBA), the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the International Boxing Organization (IBO) beltholder, Anthony Joshua (19-0, 19 KOs). Joshua is scheduled to return in Cardiff on October 28, when he makes a mandatory defense of his title against Kubrat Pulev of Bulgaria. But Joshua is also under the WBA's mandatory order to then fight Luis Ortiz.
