Plant-Truax Peaked At 2,019,000 Viewers; Most-Watched FOX Fight In 13 Months

Viewers were interested in watching Caleb Plant fight Saturday night, even though he was a huge favorite over mandatory challenger Caleb Truax. According to Nielsen Media Research numbers released Tuesday, an average of 1,887,000 viewers watched Plant convincingly out-box Truax in the main event of FOX’s tripleheader from Los Angeles. A peak audience of 2,019,000 tuned in toward the end of Plant’s dominant, 12-round win at Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall.

Michael Coffie knocked out another undefeated heavyweight on national television Saturday night. The late-developing prospect dropped Darmani Rock twice in the third round and scored another impressive knockout in a fight FOX broadcast as part of the Caleb Plant-Caleb Truax undercard from Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles. Referee Jack Reiss stopped the action 59 seconds into the third round of a scheduled 10-rounder.

The day of this weigh-in went much smoother for Caleb Truax than the last time he was supposed to step on a California State Athletic Commission scale. Truax met his contractual obligation without incident Friday for his 168-pound title fight Saturday night against IBF champ Caleb Plant. Truax officially weighed 167.8 pounds for their 12-round bout, slightly more than Plant, who came in at 167.6.
