Danny Garcia: record, next fight and profile →
Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe is very excited for Saturday night's Showtime main event pitting Danny Garcia against Brandon Rios. Mayweather Promotions is co-promoting the card along with TGB Promotions.
Brandon Rios’ recollection of his last fight against an elite welterweight is that he lost before he even entered the ring to face Timothy Bradley. The former WBA lightweight champion estimates that he came to training camp for the Bradley bout at approximately 190 pounds, 43 above the contracted limit of 147. That’s no one’s fault but his own, of course, but Rios spent his entire training camp trying to lose a considerable amount of weight and it clearly affected his performance.
Former two-division world champion Danny Garcia (33-1, 19 KOs) explains that he jumped on the opportunity to fight Brandon Rios (34-3-1, 25 KOs) from the very moment his name was placed on the table. Garcia vs. Rios takes place this coming Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Showtime will televise.
Two-division world champion Danny Garcia (33-1, 19 KOs) is only a few days away from his scheduled ring return - after spending nearly a year away from the ring. Garcia is back this coming Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas - when he faces former world champion Brandon Rios (34-3-1, 25 KOs) in a WBC final welterweight eliminator. Showtime will televise.
The lopsided odds and Brandon Rios’ ugly loss to Timothy Bradley suggest Angel Garcia is simply selling his son’s fight. However you view it, Danny Garcia’s father/trainer emphasized Friday that they don’t expect his 12-round welterweight fight against Rios to amount to an easy night of work. Garcia (33-1, 19 KOs) is a 20-1 favorite over Rios (34-3-1, 25 KOs) in advance of their February 17 fight at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
According to Robert Garcia, trainer for Brandon Rios (34-3-1, 25 KOs), we will see the very best of his fighter on Saturday night from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Rios will collide with the returning two-division world champion Danny Garcia (33-1, 19 KOs) in a WBC final welterweight eliminator.
Former two-division champion Devon Alexander (27-4) is putting the finishing touches on his training camp for his February 17th clash against Victor Ortiz (32-6-2). The fight headlines a Premier Boxing Champions card in El Paso, Texas that will be broadcast on the free-to-air network FOX.
Two-division world champion Danny Garcia (33-1, 19 KOs) is taking no chances when he returns next Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Snapping a near one year layoff, Garcia will return to the ring against Brandon Rios (34-3-1, 25 KOs) in a WBC final welterweight eliminator. Showtime will televise.
