Danny Garcia: record, next fight and profile →
Danny Garcia Video Interview - Boxing's only eight-division world champion, Senator Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao dropped Keith "One Time" Thurman in round one and won a close split decision to earn a welterweight world title in the main event of a Premier Boxing Champions on FOX Sports Pay-Per-View event Saturday night from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
LAS VEGAS – Angel Garcia doesn’t see the same fighter that beat his son when he looks at Keith Thurman these days. Danny Garcia’s father/trainer is convinced that the former WBC welterweight champion took so much out of Thurman physically that he’ll never be the same. Thurman has acknowledged the toll their 12-round, 147-pound title bout in March 2017 took on him.

As talent laden as the welterweight division has remained through the years, getting the absolute best to fight one another is a different story. A far more daunting task has been in pairing together unbeaten welterweight titlists. In fact, it’s only happened twice in the 30 years that Keith Thurman has been alive, with the Florida native involved in the most recent of the two occasions.
Mikey Garcia is still weighing his options, literally and figuratively. The former four-division champion still hasn’t decided whether his next fight will be contested at welterweight, the division in which he suffered his first defeat March 16, or at junior welterweight. Garcia has been rumored to want to fight former WBC welterweight champ Danny Garcia next, but Mikey Garcia told ESPN’s Bernardo Osuna during a televised interview Friday night that he hasn’t decided what’s next.
New York - Trainer Robert Garcia has been in four camps and now onto a third fight with his WBC junior welterweight world champion Jose Ramirez (24-0, 16 KO’s). Ramirez’s next fight will be his biggest and toughest to date. On July 27th, Ramirez will travel to Texas as he intends on unifying his WBC title with Maurice Hooker’s (26-0, 17 KO’s) WBO title on the streaming service DAZN.
WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford was in Kissimmee, Florida on Saturday night to watch his stablemate Jamel Herring capture the WBO super featherweight. Herring outpointed Masayuki Ito 118-110 twice and 116-112. The fight headlined a card televised by ESPN.
Summertime will belong to the welterweights—and Fox Sports. The latest development in the 147-pound sweepstakes calls for an all-Garcia pairing between former two-division titlist Danny Garcia and former four-division title claimant Mikey Garcia. The pairing remains in discussion stage, but is being eyed for a late summer Fox Sports Pay-Per-View headliner in Los Angeles, Calif.
Danny Garcia can point to a number of factors behind his one-sided 7th round stoppage of Adrian Granados last Saturday live in primetime on Fox. Aside from whatever he worked on in the gym was one matter in particular which provided a new source of strength in the ring: abstinence. “The reason I was so serious was because I was tense, I haven’t had sex in a long time,” Garcia (35-2, 26KOs) quipped during the most recent edition of Inside PBC Boxing Wednesday evening on FS1. “I was a hungry lion in there.”
