WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford was in Kissimmee, Florida on Saturday night to watch his stablemate Jamel Herring capture the WBO super featherweight. Herring outpointed Masayuki Ito 118-110 twice and 116-112. The fight headlined a card televised by ESPN.
After the fight Crawford spoke to Fighthype.com and other reporters on a variety of topics including a potential fight between former multi-division champions Mikey Garcia and Danny Garcia. If the fight comes to fruition it is rumored to take place in August in Los Angeles.
Top Rank chairman Bob Arum stated that he previously made an offer to Danny to face Crawford but the Philadelphia based fighter opted to fight Adrian Granados instead.
While Crawford is still intersted in facing either fighter, he believes that a fight between both Garcias would be very competitive.
"That's a good fight. They fought in the Golden Gloves back in the day. I think Mikey beat him. Mikey beat Danny in the Nationals. That is going to be a good fight," said Crawford.
"I don't know (who would win). It is different. This is the pros. Danny is bigger and stronger but at the same time Mikey is still a good fighter, is strong, and he hits hard. He is still smart. He has all the tools to beat Danny just like Danny has all the tools to beat him so it's going to be a great fight."
Mikey last fought in March when he suffered his first career loss against IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence. Danny stopped Granados in April to bounce back from his decision loss to Shawn Porter in March.
