Danny Garcia’s boxing cap is littered with golden accomplishments. He grabbed both the WBA and WBC super lightweight titles and got his hands on the Ring Magazine belt before moving up in weight. During his time at 147 pounds, Garcia pilfered the WBC title after getting rid of Robert Guerrero.

Garcia isn't ready to say goodbye to the game just yet but now, in his mid-30s, he’s removing one cap and throwing on another.

On Saturday night, at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, instead of jumping into the ring, Garcia watched from the sidelines as a promoter. In the main event, Dylan Price took down longtime vet, Gilberto Mendoza. Once fighters reach the twilight of their careers, starting a promotional company is a typical route. For Garcia, however, this has always been the plan.

“I always wanted to be a boxer,” Garcia told BoxingScene.com. “Now, I want to be more of a businessman. I always wanted to be like a manager or somebody to help put somebody on so I think promotion is the best thing for me.”

Ironically enough, Garcia first made his debut in the Atlantic City area in 2007. So essentially, it was only right that his first time around the promotional track was in familiar territory. Although his DSG Promotions has officially partnered up with Joe Frazier Promotions for this event, he has plans of taking his show on the road and hitting different states.

“This is the first one and I hope there’s many more to come. I would love to go back to Philadelphia, Florida, Connecticut. All the Spanish/Puerto Rican states where I know I can attack and be successful.”

Garcia is aware that his name is a known commodity in the boxing world. Meaning, he isn’t willing to align himself with something that he doesn’t believe in.

Before deciding that he’ll make his promotional debut on this card, Garcia took a look at who will actually be participating. Once he began reading off the names and the matchups, Garcia began to smile. Of course, the fighters have to go out there and fight the fights but considering what he saw, Garcia has no doubt that fans enjoyed every minute of his first show.

“Dylan Price is undefeated, he wants to let the world know that he’s ready for the big leagues. Miguel Roman is 3-0, he’s young and hungry. Billy Briscoe, Saud Clark is one of my best friends. Joey Dawejko, I grew up with Joey. He’s hungry. He wants to knock on the next door. I feel like every fighter is hungry and that’s why you're gonna get a great night of fights.”
