Dublin - Limerick’s Paddy Donovan stepped up in class and made a real statement, stopping English welterweight champion, Danny Ball, in four rounds.

Undefeated Irish welterweight Paddy “The Real Deal” Donovan (11-0, 8 KOs) will fight for his first title as a professional on November 25th against BBB of C English welterweight champion Danny Ball (13-1-1, 6 KOs) in a 10-round bout for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Continental Welterweight Championship.

Gary Cully will make his big return to Dublin this November when he fights Reece Mould for the WBA Continental Europe lightweight title – but this time he insists his homecoming is “personal”.

Danny Ball proved to be too much for Jamie Robinson in their domestic welterweight title fight. An early knockdown and a disciplined performance put forth by Ball was enough to break down Robinson and force a stoppage after the eighth round of their DAZN opener Saturday evening from AO Arena in Manchester, England.

Leigh Wood is now the only main event fighter eligible to fight for his old title. Rumors of weight struggles for Mauricio Lara were confirmed prior to the start of Friday’s official pre-fight weigh-in. A weight check during fight week prompted the British Boxing Board of Control to deem it unsafe for Lara to attempt to make the 126-pound featherweight limit on Friday. The BBBofC set a minimum limit of 128 ½ pounds for which Lara could step on the scale. The development will likely result in his being stripped of the WBA featherweight title.

THE DATE OF October 9 2021 will be forever circled in history following the unforgettable third meeting of Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder which, we would imagine, brought the pair’s fighting connection to a conclusion.

BRAD FOSTER will face Jason Cunningham for the British, Commonwealth and European Super-Bantamweight championships at Utilita Arena, Birmingham on Saturday October 9.

DANNY BALL insists he’s ready to become British Welterweight champion even though it means beating close pal, Chris Jenkins. The Black Country boxer showed big potential on his BT Sport debut outpointing unbeaten Sam Gilley last Friday in the first defence of his WBC International Silver title.

OUR FIGHT NIGHT doubleheader brought about plenty of thrills and one or two spills but, for the most part, our crop of young talent took some significant steps forward at the Copper Box Arena.

Danny Ball put his name in the mix in a crowded British welterweight scene as he extended his unbeaten record to 11 fights (one draw) at the expense of Sam Gilley’s spotless record as he recorded a ten round unanimous decision in the show-opener at the Copper Box in London.
