Spray_resistant How else would the big payday for each be justified
Prior to the announcement I thought that the general public stopped caring about them
Floyd no longer looked invincible and
manny is no longer a phenomenon
yet here it is the rematch 11.5 years later
Split: The anticipated agreement is 60% for Mayweather and 40% for Pacquiao for the upcoming rematch
Who here would turn down $200+ mil dollars :dunno:
People definitely did stop caring about them, and I bet that’s part of why they are doing a rematch now. They can get a big payday and back in the spotlight and people will watch it because stupid gimmick fights are the thing now.
Oh so Netflix are just going to lose out in the hopes of getting more subs, Turki can payout like that because his boss the prince has unlimited oil money so whats a few hundo mill huh?As someone who doesn't watch tv I'd subscribe only for the fight then cancel the sub
So how do they make money if people are already subscribed? Since the rematch is effectively free let see if it gets more views than the original. Most recent Netflix boxing were great events Saul Santos v TBud and Buff Guy BBC Adonis Joshua the GigaTyrone Of All Combat Sports
AI:
Fighters on non-PPV platforms like Netflix are paid through large, guaranteed purses funded by massive upfront licensing fees paid by the streaming service to the promoter, rather than percentage-based PPV buys. Revenue is generated via subscription growth and advertising, with top fighters potentially earning bonuses based on viewership metrics.
Guaranteed Purses: Fighters receive a set amount to "show" (compete) regardless of fight outcome, often higher upfront to compensate for the lack of PPV upside.
Alternative Revenue Streams: Instead of direct PPV cuts, fighters may negotiate larger shares of sponsorships, gate receipts, and merchandise sales.
Viewership-Based Pay: In streaming deals, payouts may be linked to high viewership numbers, which drive, Netflix's profitability through subscriber growth.
Alot of them think a 0 on their record means unbeatable until proven otherwise, I doubt this will do as well as Floyd thinks and of course Manny wants it, now he has his chance due mostly to Floyd's poor financial management. Netflix not ppv
i would say only casuals think floyd was some invincible unbeatable fighter. hardcore fans saw him lose to castillo, struggle against judah etc....and hardcore fans know no fighter is invincible. not to mention his general level of opposition was not all time great level, more of a steady pretty good to artificially extend his career. manny was no longer a phenomenon in the first fight...thats why it happened lol. then again floyd thought cotto and marg were phenomenons who were too dangerous to fight...baldomir...definitely not a phenomenon
