The Champions League knockout-stage playoffs return for the second-leg matchups this week. The first game will be the second leg between Atletico Madrid and Club Brugge.
Atletico Madrid will host Club Brugge at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano in Madrid, Spain. The first leg was played last week in Brugge, Belgium, at Jan Breydelstadion.
The match finished in a 3-3 draw. Atletico Madrid took a 2-0 lead at halftime with a penalty goal from Julian Alvarez and a last first half goal from Ademola Lookman.
In the second half, Club Brugge responded quickly and equalized in eight minutes through goals from Raphael Onyedika and Nicolo Tresoldi.
In the 79th minute, Club Brugge’s Joel Ordoñez scored an own goal to make it 3-2 for Atletico Madrid, but in the 89th minute, Christos Tzolis scored the home team’s third gola of the game to make it 3-3.
The winner of the match tonight advances to the Champions League Round of 16. If. the match ends in a draw after 90 minutes, the match will go to extra time. The match will be decided through a penalty shootout if the game remains a draw after extra time.
Both teams played over the weekend in their respective leagues, with Atletico Madrid beating Espanyol 4-2 and Club Brugge beating OH Leuven 2-1.
