Ryan Garcia made it look effortless against Marios Barrios, while Manny Pacquiao struggled against a one-dimensional fighter like Barrios. Just imagine what Garcia would do if they ever stepped into the ring, Pacquiao wouldn’t know what hit him once that right hook lands.
And honestly, they should count themselves lucky they haven’t faced Terence Crawford because against him, that kind of performance would get exposed and torn apart fast.
Boxing isn’t a family tree, it’s about performance and the reality is Garcia handled Mario Barrios like it was a sparring session, while Manny Pacquiao struggled with the exact same "easy opponent" you’re talking about.
My point was "duh" he should he is close to 20 years younger than Pacman.
Garcia in theory could be Pacman's son so what is he exposing when it comes to Manny?
As for Barrios everybody and his brother felt Garcia would have to shi$ the bed for him to lose to Barrios...

I wouldn't say he "exposed" Mario Barrios. Exposure implies that we thought that Barrios was something that he wasn't. Mario has been around for a while, so we all knew generally what to expect. An above average fighter, a lot of heart, good stiff jab, and a very good counter puncher. Probably not championship material but he had a lot of heart so. Barrios fought someone who was much faster than him tonight. That's really what it comes down to.
Calling it “not exposed” is just a polite way of pretending the obvious didn’t happen You say we already knew what to expectm an above-average fighter with heart. Exactly. And that’s the point. Heart doesn’t win fights when your speed, timing, and ring IQ are a level below your opponent. What happened in that fight just confirmed that Barrios is exactly what critics said he was. Saying “he just fought someone faster” is a weak excuse. Speed is part of boxing. If a fighter can’t deal with it, can’t adjust, and spends the night getting beaten to the punch, that’s not just bad luck, that’s a limitation. And that limitation is precisely what got exposed.
Ryan Garcia vs. Mario Barrios was stylistically a fight made for Garcia at this stage of his career 'and even still? He was unable to knock him out'.
I personally don't think it was an impressive performance, I was expecting more from him 'but nevertheless he done very well, to seize this opportunity to win a World title'.
I don't think beating Barrios is Garcia's best win on his resume, and neither is he skill for skill the best fighter 'Garcia has fought and beaten'.
Note: Luke Campbell in the latter part of his career, was in my opinion a better fighter than Mario Barrios and Ryan Garcia's overall best win in terms of pure performance. Stylistically it was potentially a very difficult fight for Garcia, which was evident by how the fight was progressing.
Campbell was winning the fight, right up until he was decked and stopped for the first time in his career 'with a body punch'.
The timing of that fight was, great match making for Ryan Garcia 'and I don't think he beat a great version of Luke Campbell. But for sure? Skill for skill the challenges what Garcia had to overcome that night vs. Campbell were greater than his fight vs. Mario Barrios'.
To conclude: Overall I think Ryan Garcia's performance and win vs. Mario Barrios is being completely overrated 'Garcia should have really been able to force a legitimate stoppage. But he was not even able to achieve this feat'.
Ryan Garcia from this point in his career, needs to be matched in the biggest possible fights which he can win 'such as vs. Conor Benn. But I would definitively back fighters like Devin Haney in a rematch, and many of the other top level fighters at 147 pound to beat him'.
I don't really see much improvement in Ryan Garcia skill for skill as a fighter since beating Luke Campbell 'in some areas of his game, like his conditioning and work ethic he seems to have gone backwards in his career' etc.

Why are you talking about prime fighters or fighters near their prime beating up or exposing a former all-time great fighting in his late 40s? It means nothing, you talkike they are fighting a prime Manny

I was under the impression that his lack of speed was "exposed" a while back.

Nobody should blow this Ryan win out or proportion. He beat Barrios...a guy that had a draw with a 46yr old Pac while Barrios was in his prime. That tells you everything you need to know.
The fact that Ryan got a title shot opportunity after taking a loss in his last fight is what upsets me most. He didn't deserve it and let's be real, Barrios was food for just about any fighter that faced him. Ryan just got lucky he got the opportunity since money talks and they bumped him ahead of the line.
Ryan is no more impressive or less impressive to me after this win. Rolly still has his number.
It was Pac's first actual fight in years and years. He was rusty and not as willing to get hit and exchange. But his speed was still good and Barrios had no idea how to hurt Pac or deal with his style. Pac at this age is nowhere near his prime but he is still competitive and had he fought a tune up or two he may well have stopped Barrios, ot at least hurt him multiple times and won convincingly. I thought he won anyway, by a round or two.
Pac isn't going to be the killer he used to be obviously. That said, if he follows a solid gameplan of landing flurries and not getting hit alot, he could UD good fighters. He isn't beating elite fighters anymore but there aren't many of those left.Jeff Horn would whoop Mario
