154 to 168 includes Ward’s weight class of 168.
Why the need to catch weight him?
Who was asking for the fight, GGG or Ward?
50/50 money and weight was more than fair.
154 to 168 includes Ward’s weight class of 168.
Why the need to catch weight him?
i remember reading about ggg and they asked him quesions this was as he was coming up and winning betls and one of the questions was will he fight andre ward and he said 'maybe'
I'm not a mathematician, but I'm pretty sure that 154 to 168 includes 164. You know, like 1 to 10 includes 2, 3, 4. 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. I think that's how it works.

Even he'd known that Canelo would relinquish the WBC belt instead of fighting him, giving Ward the brush off would have been the right decision by GGG.
Look what happened to Kovalev after he signed a 2 fight deal with Ward - he got robbed in the first fight, then Ward threatened to retire if Krusher didn't agree to rip up the rematch contract and fight Ward again for ZERO percent of the purse guarantee. Then in the rematch, Kovalev gets waved out while complaining to the ref about being punched in the nuts multiple times.
I hope that POS Tony Weeks never refs a big fight again. Let him ref pickup B-Ball games at local playgrounds.
Ward acknowledges as much. Team Golovkin preferred to cherrypick and avoid Ward in order to get to a Canelo fight, which they eventually got 2 years down the line.
So credit to them for being good businessmen and not idols of boxing.
Who was the cherry pick? Wade? He was inserted as the IBF mandatory after Tureano Johnson injured his shoulder.
Perhaps the only one could have been Eubank Jr - not a mandatory - but he was 2nd choice after Canelo pulled out of their September 2016 fight Eubank Jr. then lost his pen and the fight was offered to Kell Brook at the last minute, the 3rd choice - so not as if Golovkin chose to fight a 147 titlist - it was offered to Brook to save the show.and offered by Hearn. Golovkin was an active champion , not one to fight once a year until the end of his career - he likely just wanted to fight, in training camp etc - he could have refused Brook as an opponent but then what? A wasted training camp and no fight scheduled and pi55ing off a promoter - I expect anyway he couldn't have pulled out of the Brook fight because he'd have signed the contract to fight Eubank Jr.
All of which to say if your in the camp that believes Golovkin ducked Ward then you'll never change your mind but its also worth acknowledging the influences outside Golovkin's control - loud-mouth trainer, unexpected mandatories, Ward's inactivity and promotional issues, Canelo pulling out, Eubank Jr. losing pen.
I also think that Sanchez was all about bigging up Golovkin too - he got his trainer cut and the bigger the purse the bigger his cut was.
And finally, I do think that Ward would have likely won the fight - too cute - tying up - I'd have loved to see how the fight played out.
yeah how could they see that canelo would puss out of htat and drop his belt and yet wardy demands ggg go to 168 to fight him for probably peanuts and get robbed anyway and drop his 160 drive for the belts and the canelo cash just cos he say so and hes still whining about it TILL THIS DAY and his hop on fans doing the same this topic just keeps coming up and up again and again

GTFOH, Ward! You're still crying about Golovkin, who wasn't in your weight class. You quit the game after beating a declining Kovalev, because you knew the top guys at LHW would give you hell.
"so lets break down the timeline here according to wards own offer. ggg fights lemieux in october 2015, someone else in early 2016 then ward in middle of 2016...all this while hes wbc mandatory to cotto and or canelo. thats so absurd in every way."
Especially absurd when you include the fact that Canelo and Cotto had signed a contract agreeing that the winner of their upcoming fight would defend the WBC 160 belt against GGG next, or relinquish the title. And Ward actually sent GGG a contract to sign. If GGG had signed it, the contract signed by Cotto and Canelo guaranteeing to defend the WBC 160 belt against him next would have been voided and GGG would have lost his mandatory position.
Ward and his promoter knew there wasn't a cat in hell's chance that GGG would accept their offer. It wasn't meant to be accepted. It was a PR stunt.

andre ward: a case study on lying by omission
this is the craziest video ive ever seen of someone twisting themselves into a pretzel to try and explain how his story and reality do not align and it just doesn't go well for him....at all.
first of all his own promoter said he ducked ggg in court along with other fighters like bute. ward wanted dmitri sartison, hbo wanted bute, ggg, etc...and ward refused those fights as his own promoter confirms. wards promoter won the lawsuit as the court agreed many fights were presented to ward but it was wards fault that he didnt take them so his promotional agreement would continue without time being taken off. ward wanted time taken off from his contract because he agreed to fights against bums like sartison so that should count. its not his fault hbo rejected them! he didnt address that time in history because he cant.
the big thing that ward reveals and emphasizes is that ward simply wasnt ready to fight ggg. his own offer confirms this. his own words confirm this. the offer was not to fight straight away. it was each guy gets a tune up then they fight...what the hell is that? why? he glosses over this and moves on quickly because it kills his whole argument and kills his whole vibe.
ward you werent ready buddy. why are you making offers if you arent ready? ggg's promoter even tells him we can revisit the fight later when you are ready because you clearly arent ready and ward tries to pretzel twist this into ggg not being ready? how so fooktard? ggg has a figth scheduled, is mandatory to cotto/canelo and even told you we can fight later. you are the one talking about tune ups not ggg. you are the one not offering to fight right now. beat it clown!
ward says "ggg you could take a fight in the interim" which means you have to wait for me lmfao! this is a guy fighting on BET at the time and he wants ggg to wait around for him! can you believe this! this is narcissism people. please beware of people like this and stay away.
what he should have said is "wait why didnt i just offer to fight ggg straight away? wow im stu-pid. i needed a tune up first? my bad. my fault the fight didnt happen"
so lets break down the timeline here according to wards own offer. ggg fights lemieux in october 2015, someone else in early 2016 then ward in middle of 2016...all this while hes wbc mandatory to cotto and or canelo. thats so absurd in every way. rejected in 15 minutes! ward tries to twist this as if it helps his case but in reality it shows how laughable and unserious his offer was and nothing more. of course you arent going to take more than a couple minutes to reject a guy who isnt ready to fight. lets revisit the fight later when you are ready is a perfectly normal response. ward doesnt even realize how he comes off and how he was the one who wasnt ready at every step of the way.
by 2016 ward was fully at 175 and fully locked into a contract to fight kovalev yet hes talking about ggg fighting dominic wade and kell brook in instead of him? motherfooker you are the one that is at 175 and you are the one that is already signed to fight someone else what the fook are you talking about? they literally told you to revisit the fight when you are ready and you went up a division and signed to fight someone else. how the fook is that ggg's fault? because canelo ducked him isnt gggs fault either sorry try again. if you wanted ggg to fight you instead of wade you should have waited around but you didnt! you wanted ggg to wait around for your sorry ass while you have a bunch of tune ups but you cant wait for him to see if canelo is going to fight him? fooking ridiculous

Golovkin’s team is the one that said anyone from 154 to 168. Then when Ward raised his hand suddenly they changed their tune to “164 or no fight.”
I'm not a mathematician, but I'm pretty sure that 154 to 168 includes 164. You know, like 1 to 10 includes 2, 3, 4. 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. I think that's how it works.
'the art of ward' :lol1::lol1:
this guys ego is off the charts - he had a poor fight v kovalev 1 getting dropped but got a UD win over the belt holder somehow someway then incredibly rocnation and jzee gave him a guarantee of 6.5 M for the rematch based on poor ppv figures for fight 1 and kovalev got zero guarantee whatsoever and was paid off ppv sales which were lower than poor fight 1 LOL, so kovalev had his belts robbed & was shafted in the purses for the rematch as well, and then ward had his own personal ref in fight 2 tony weeks and we all know how that played out, this is what happens in boxing when u allow guys like ward to keep their 0
This is what ward said before he retired :lol1:
And after making a successful leap to become champion at light-heavyweight, Ward believed he could continue to defeat "giants" and was suggested the idea of facing Joshua by his trainer Virgil Hunter.
"I always seem to be knocking down giants one by one," Ward said. "Heavyweight, that's always been a dream of mine. It's got to be against the right guy, but I dream big and anything is possible"
The guy who cries about ggg all the time was saying he was going all the way to heavyweight while he was active but he bailed out of 175 immediately
interesting
Dre at heavy sounds as trollish as Fat Dave talking about heavy
both having started at 168

So credit to them for being good businessmen and not idols of boxing.backfired because golovkin would have had to take 9 rounds just to get a decision over Santos
whereas it'd only be 7 rounds necessary vs Dre who had a niche style and smaller fanbase

As Ward pointed out, Tom Loeffler and K2 promotions did a fantastic job building an Eastern fighter into must-see PPV B-side (to Canelo). We know how boxing works, its a business. Any smart promoter and network are looking several steps ahead so it's very plausible that they had targetted Canelo as the ultimate target from a business point of view.
I believe it was Sanchez who came out with the 154-168 line. This was a mistake and obviously off-message from what HBO wanted. The HBO executives were most likely on the phone to Loeffler immediately demanding to know WTF they put that out there for.
The 154 part was obviously a tilt of the cap towards Mayweather who had 2 belts hels hostage there while he fought at 147. IF Golovkin could have clearly beaten Canelo then the next logical step would have been to move up to 168. As it happened, all concerned - apart from Ward - made far more money with the rematches.

- - Nice pic with Wart pointing to the hole in his infantile noggin.
GGG offered TBE TUE l'l floydy a crack at his middle title @155lbs to no avail. Wart wanted him to come up to a catchweight @ 164lbs, but was death at the Gate Proceeds, so disaster averted until U started stirring shyte...
I’m afraid you have your facts mixed up.
It was Golovkin who wanted a 164 catchweight, not Ward.
Nice try daggumAll you have to do is watch their fights to see the truth.
Golovkin stopped everyone and made them look weak. Before him they were good fighters. After GGG they were bums. GGG was past it a few years and he beat prime Canelo twice and got bad decisions.
Ward is a fouling machine and terrible to watch. He makes BHop seem like an exciting fighter. Hit Kov in the nuts multiple times. He just s u c k e d in general. Retired young because he knew eventually his style would catch up to him.
Ward is also so full of s h i t when he talks about basically anything that only a totally naive person can't see it. One of if not the most overrated fighters ever. If you look up fan comments in general on Ward this is just the plain truth.
At least GGG avoided taking all the nutshots, headbutts and elbows. Good for him.Golovkin already had a fight in the works so Ward said no problem, we can take an interim fight then face each other afterward.
But of course one of the excuses used by Golovkin’s team to duck Ward was that they already had a fight scheduled. :lol1:lol their argument boils down to I like golovkin fighting style therefore he didn't duck Ward
it's in character golovkin who took no risks when it came to opponents
compared to Dre who went up one to face the Russian Beast Sergey
