in no other sports are people wanting to watch youtubers and celebrities compete more than the professional athletes... noone in UK is wanting to see youtuber football matches more than the premier league, same goes for NFL... the only reason celebrities are overshadowing them in boxing is because the top guys barely fight each other and the sport is of no interest anymore to the mainstream... what amazing match ups have jake paul and andrew tate detracted attention from this weekend?

I have to disagree. Human nature drives the interest in youtubers fighting. People will watch anybody, anything fight. If two nobodys are fighting (not boxing per se) on the internet, people will view it. From school yards to bars, people will gather around to watch others go at it.
Youtubers and celebrities bring their own fan bases which equates to an instant audience and curiosity. Probably the most important part of boxing is, can you get people to pay to watch you fight. If you can't sell seats, you might as well keep it in the back alley.
Does anyone see how Usyk "earning the right" to defend the heavyweight championship in his only fight in a 365 day period against a shot deontay wilder is nonsense?
The belts in all divisions need to be active.
If any of these so called "champions" can't defend their title at least once every 6 months then they don't deserve to call themself a champion.
I see people saying "oh but he deserves a rest"
A "rest" is 8 weeks off, then back into training camp.
Unless champions are declared medically unfit, if they can't defend vs a top 10 opponent every 6 months, STRIP THEM and put the title on the line in a vacant title fight vs #2 and #3 in the division.
This sport is becoming a part time sport especially in the last 10 years or so, that's why it's insulting to compare these guys to the great champions of the past who were out 4 or 5 times a year, EVERY YEAR.
