The way I see this. AJ feels like it's a wannabie trying hard to play at the highest level of a sport he's a fan of. So I think AJ might treat JP as a fan and beat him up just enough where he doesn't flatline him, but gets the ref to jump in and stop the fight, preventing AJ from truly KOing JP the f**k out.
He's going to treat this like when all these people want to get punched in the stomach by a professional boxer to feel what they punch like. AJ is going to give JP just enough of the taste without badly hurting him because AJ has to simply know he has every advantage in the world vs JP and JP is just trying to earn some boxing respect and in doing so, honoring AJ with a massive paycheck.
Unfortunatly you might be right. Jake is not gonna beat Usyk. It's tough to accept it. There's simply not enough cardio in him to really tackle the elite.
ill clear that up, there is not enough cardio in him to out run the elite, or anyone half decent most likely, which he is himself, a half decent kind of amateurish guy
its tough to accept kinda means u might be invested in this guy and his journey, i salute u if thats the case i think, i could never get onboard with someone like him, he shook things up a bit ill give him that but it was only a matter of time before this happened, the tommy fury fight should have been a wake up call but he somehow managed to paper over that one i think he fought less high profile guys on cards that were not heavily publicised if i remember right & got his wins and then hes back once again, id say hes gone for good this time tho
yes i agree everyone got what they wanted, it being over that is
plus a bad jaw now for jake im sure thats not what he wanted
but he rolled the dice with his boxing run & ended up with the big AJ, its what he wanted and what he did, jake has zero chance of beating anyone decent let alone good and big, its stoopid as a result but its jake stoopied as he planned it

Looking back at it now, it almost would have seemed better to go in there and go to war and get KTFO'd in a round or two instead of trying to outrun the inevitable.
I feel like everybody got what they wanted from this fight.

its scary that the narrative is now how well jake managed to run for how many rounds, just not good, AJ himself is not even sharp hes got one foot in retirement as well as jake now whos got both feet & a jaw but AJ did more of a job than i thought he might do, i thought he might give him a softer stoppage a sort of hard sparring with jake just finding an ending himself but jake tried to make it to the end badly to say he went 8 with AJ at the very least gassed and AJ just wanted it ended so save his embarrassment so thats how it went
Yeah but still, I think it was pretty good from Jake. He looked OK, but was overwhelmed by the sheer size and power. It was a mental challenge that he could not overcome when he finally stepped into the ring. I think he deserves a lot of credit for showing up and challenging himself, as all of us boxers have pressed him to do. I feel like everybody got what they wanted from this fight.
Jake was on his bike a lot, but he got in the ring, survived much longer than other cans.

Since I just saw there were some replies here, I'll add, JP impressed me with his desire to win knowing he had every disadvantage. It's easy looking in the window from the outside and critiquing but let's be real, AJ is an intimidating figure. 99% of the planet wouldn't want to get in the ring with him. JP did, despite knowing his only chance was to run as long as he could and hopefully AJ tires out as well in the process.
The problem was the opposite happened. JP packing on the extra lbs to get up to heavyweight tired him out while AJ was natural at the weight and had no issues. Not to mention, I've complained about JP's stamina in the past at the lower weights. So it's always a thing and only worse when he packed on weight to close the gap between him and AJ.
The only victory I see is that JP didn't get flatlined like Ngannou whose a massive human himself. Perhaps the extra rds AJ had to go let there be slightly less venom on the right that dropped JP, but despite that, he still managed to split JP's jaw in half. I'm Okay with JP being fully conscience, smiling about it and being able to get up and walk away because I was actually worried for him in there.
Based on the size difference in the ring, my worries were justified. He looked like a midget compared to AJ and all you could do was hold your breath waiting for AJ to land something big on JP and seeing how he took it. I'd say, despite the jaw being smashed, it was his best outcome in a fight he couldn't win. He could of literally been rendered out cold or severe brain injury that he gets stretchered out of the ring.
Paul: Hi AJ, I desperately need a big name opponent after Tank went bonkers. I will give you $25 million.
AJ: Okay Jake I'm free and need some cash flow. Any special instructions?
Paul: Just play soft and make me look good and competent so I can keep doing these skits and pay guys like you $25m. Take me out after round 5.
AJ: Not a problem. Thanks brother. Nice doing business with you.
Didn't go our way today, AJ was too strong. Too good. JP proved himself though. Even new strategies unseen in boxing. Whenever a bigger guy puts pressure on you, you go for the leg hug. Thats a win in my book.
it was embarrassing and nothing else
are u alive today?
u levels of delusion are very impressive

OP wasn't far off
First real punch Joshua landed put Jake out and it looked to be 50 percent power
Most of Jake's over hand rights were landed on Joshua's glove with the goofball announcers giving it credit for landing
So was Joshua really that bad at cutting off the ring? Was he afraid of Jake's counters which the few he took were nothing. Or was Jake's running in a 22 ft ring just too much
I mean when he got to tired to run anymore he resorted to diving for the canvas and hugging on to Joshua's thigh to run down the clock
I think AJ will do anything he can, but JP jump onto the inside, and sparks him, the legs doing the stinkyleg

I'm just looking forward to it being over so all these various think-pieces can end.
Let's hope 2026 bring a series of meaningful fights across the divisions. Looking forward most to Bivol's return.
Hey man, I am too. Nothing better than two boxers at the highest level going at it, but this is the type of fights we're ending the year with, so it is what it is. Let's not sleep on the undercard either.
At least we got Inoue next weekend.
