I think Jai Opetaia is the boogeyman atm. I'm saying this as not really a big fan of Jai either, but he is avoided by many for numerous of reasons.
Who do you think is the Boogeyman?
Tall Paul was a boogey
And got clapped by Sexy Sergio
more often than not when you’re that good you’ll have a fanbase and drawing power
there’ll be reasons to fight you
True
Slim Lanky was one
If only he could have been taught how NOT to give up his size advantages.
Perhaps Winky was one, too
We will wait and see but I don't hold out much hope, especially as I see Kabayel as stylistic kryptonite to Usyk. Usyk isn't silly he knows his boxing better than anyone and there's a reason he doesn't mention Kabayel like ever.
He doesn't mention Kabayel because Kabayel doesn't have the name value of Joshua, Fury, Dubois, or Parker. All four of those guys held the heavyweight title already.
But after he deals with Parker, who is even worth a voluntary defense?
Kabayel, Zhang, Hrgovic, Sanchez, Ajagba, Bakole, Pulev, Wilder, Ruiz, Joshua, Dubois, Itauma, Wardley... that's pretty much the entire list of possibilities without getting into sideshow territory.
Who would he take a voluntary defense against? Fury reiterated his retirement today, Dubois already got knocked out twice and is seeking the IBF route again, Joshua already lost twice.
The only guys with any name value out there he hasn't beaten are Wilder and Ruiz, and they're both shot. I think he fights Kabayel after the Parker/Wardley winner.

Yeah, so Usyk vs Parker will probably happen June or July, then you can expect Usyk to be allowed a voluntary, which will be next December, then Kabayel probably June 2027 gets his shot
He's 33 now so my timeline adds up

He'll be the next mandatory after Usyk faces the Parker/Wardley winner.

Kabayel.
It's actually shocking as well considering how good he is, his name isnt even mentioned.
Honestly don't think he will even get a title shot until he's 35 which will basically be at the end of his prime.

Do boogaymen ever amount to anything ?
The whole "Everyone is ducking him..." unconfirmed tall tales.......
Dominating dead divs and a ton of no hopers ?
Margacheato was the last notable boogeyman
His claim to fame turned out to be a joke
King for a day, bum for life.
Benny has been anointed some badass while having what could be the worst resume in the sport.Tall Paul was a boogey

I don't think any fighter is truly scared of another, but more of the outcome that it can bring. That is, loss in earnings for future bouts. Loss of position in rankings. Loss of position in being a player that is making his moves into the right position for a mega $$$ matchup. Especially more now than ever in the past. Fighters are looking to secure insane paychecks with the likes of Turki and they cannot afford to face a guy that should they lose to him, can throw all of that away.
So I think they're more afraid of the loss than the opponent, if that even makes sense.

Who do you think is the Boogeyman?
Jai is the one doing the ducking.
Jai's last three opponents were Squeo, Nyika, and Massey and he's fighting Cinkara next.
Zurdo's last four opponents were Dorticos, Billam-Smith, Goulamirian, and Joe Smith Jr. Bivol before that.
Zurdo is fighting champion after champion after champion while Jai is literally fighting the absolute worst guys he can get away with without being stripped of the title by the IBF.
Just because Opetaia is the one loudly accusing everyone else of ducking doesn't mean he's actually trying to make the fights, and just because he can't get Zurdo or Jack doesn't give him an excuse to fight the absolute bottom of the barrel guys he's been fighting his entire career minus the two good wins over Briedis.
why would they fight all the toughest fights for only ok money AND fans would still not be satisfied? .
so why would canelo damand 150 - 200 mil for the benny fight?
no one else is demanding that crazy ass money for a fight like that, meaning that benny is canelos bogeyman, hes scared crapless of him bogeymen do exist in boxing, rightly or wrongly some guys going well usually who can ba-ng are avoided or in other words bogeymen & remain so until someone else who is up for the challenge takes it on and shows they are not actual bogeymen or proves that they might deserve that label at that time
anyway guys are usually only bogeymen for a short time peroid, a year or a few years until they get injured or lose form, its very noticeable who fights these guys and who avoids them like the plague, all throughout boxing actually, ill bet your fav fighter avoided one or more bogeymen in their career and maybe fought them when they were not so hot
throw retirement money at them and they will fight anybody even if they are going to die. ".
not much of a retirement so
or maybe a permanent retirement in that case
nobody. boxers aren't afraid of each other. i noticed fans are under the impression that boxers fight to determine who's the best. hahaha. they are only fighting for money. throw retirement money at them and they will fight anybody even if they are going to die. exceptions are sick bastard teofimo and wilder.
the question that's bugging me for 10 years is why people waste time on forums/social networks with irrelevant topics instead of watching actual boxing? some people are here almost every day but can't be bothered to watch 10 events a year. what kind of fan is that? well boxers don't care about pleasing those fans and some of them are never satisfied. they fight whoever for some money and move on. why would they fight all the toughest fights for only ok money AND fans would still not be satisfied? fights don't get made when we want them because of that and not because someone is a "boogeyman".
