Someone like Fundora sucks like honestly, so bad. I'd not in the slightest bit be surprised if a way past it, old, inactive Thurman whose had a million injuries knocked him out.
There is being flawed or having flaws then there is whatever that mockery of supposed 21st century boxing is.
How can people not see this?
Bakhram, Tim Tyszu, none of them can box.
These two Bakhram and Fundora are being hyped for beating Tim Tyszu who is a domestic level name who was parading about as a belt holder.
I don't think a Tyszu would even beat a Conor Benn or Josh Kelly.
Stanionis probably beats the hell out of most of the 154 crop.
Its the same thing with Usyk and even Bud people act like bigger is better. When you have elite skills its not its the guys who are closer to them in skill that will give them a torrid time not these bigger, slower guys who are incapable of putting combinations together.
I don't buy Boots resume being as weak as people think, it just lacks the big names and here is why and I am not saying its great, he has a lot to do still but;
He has fought just about every style there is. Most of the guys that get hyped or are supposedly so good are making careers out of fighting practically the same style over and over.
Boots has fought good counterpunchers, punchers, boxers, boxer-punchers, southpaws, pressure fighters. They may not be elite but they are prime not some faded name who can no longer pull the trigger or whose reactions are that big slower.
Stanionis is a decent fighter - Good pressure fighter with a very good, hard stiff jab on him. Educated pressure. Good amateur pedigree. Beaten like he was nothing at all. Best opponent Boots has fought, his best performance. He raised his game.
Even Lima and I am not saying he's this fantastic win (probably fringe contender at best) and styles don't make fights but the reality is Lima took a fight with Aaron McKenna on a day or two noticed and busted him the fvck up. People are now starting to say Aaron McKenna is one for the future or knocking on the door. Boots bombed a better Lima out on a full camp like he was a guy fresh out of the crowd and nothing, Lima is simply a bum.
Karen Chukhadzian - Good all rounder from the Ukrainian system. I am not saying he is as good and he's not southpaw like Loma and Usyk are but he is from that schooling. Nobody calls this guy out why? I'll tell you why its because he's got a style that would give anyone a headache. Constantly in perpetual motion - He is always moving and fainting and has great footwork and angles. Great work rate, desire to win. He's always in top shape and has a hell of a chin on him also so going to be there for the long haul.
Stanionis and Karen are top fighters in their division both better and more proven than many of the name value opponents people act like Boots needs to fight.
He has shown he can take a shot, adjust, adapt to a whole lot of guys and styles, he's shown he can fight 12 hard rounds. The only real question is can he do it at a higher level? Of course he can.
Unproven is say David Price before he got smashed by Thompson just bombing everyone out in a round or two or say an Itauma.
I don't think unproven is the right word?
He's fought a lot of guys, some good guys and he has simply had all the answers. He has ticked every box.
We have seen him hit on the chin by huge punchers and its pretty much bounced clean off him then he's woke up, got serious and gone up a level or wiped them clean out. I think that doesn't just answer the chin calls but also his mentality. Villa is probably more heavy-handed than him.
He's from Philly, they historically all have the same mindset. You don't find fighters from Philly that lack heart. Its a different world out there.
I would say unproven is probably the literal ideal and absolute best word to use.

We've seen many so called talented fighters come and go in a flash.
Boots undoubtedly has the physical quickness and power, but does he have the heart?
How does he respond when he's hurt and knocked down?
What happens when he fights someone who has more power than him?
Until Ennis fights someone top level, he's unproven.
I like Boots and I think he's a very good fighter. He isn't arrogant and he shows class in his interviews. He's a very exciting fighter. i don't think he deserves that hate that he gets. I hope he keeps showing class and stay on track. I'm really interested to see what he can do.
No, this was when Jaron Ennis was the unified welterweight champion of the world. Eddie Hearn offered Team Norman, Jr $1.7 mil to fight “Boots”.
However they wanted $2 mil instead. So after Team Norman, Jr declined Eddie Hearn’s last and only offer.
Then Jaron Ennis decided to vacate the 147 pound welterweight division altogether in order to compete at 154.
That was a much needed fight for team Ennis and Slow Eddie wouldn’t fork over an extra $500 000
Yes I recall the incident
who knows, there arent many good fighters around any more to match up with him, fighters who would have been C-level 10 years ago now hold belts, didnt pacquiao come out of the OAP home and draw with one of the belt holders that shows how crap the level is now compared to before... not much he can do when all the fighters around him are shite
so 300k derailed a fight lol
2 mil for unification fight was it? doesnt sound too bad to ask for actually they should have paid them i think
I thought you should have known by now how cheap Eddie Hearn and Matchroom are. Besides, I believe that Brian Norman,Jr should have taken the offer.
It would have been a career high payday. However, they made the right move because Devin Haney saved the day.
They hooked up with Turki and are going to probably make at least 3x that amount of money that was offered by Matchroom.
I see a lot of newer fighters these days will lack the same will and determination to accomplish tremendous feats as great fighters that come before. These days it's more about getting the bag. If Boots can become undisputed in one weight class, that's at least something. Though I'd like to see how daring he gets to try and become a generational talent.

Was that a good thing , the fact he threatened to fight a smaller fighter not in his division ???
Lmfao and imo , would of backed out of that fight as he’s done in many other fights once the challenge is accepted

We’re basically saying the same thing. Risks inside the ring is like throwing more punches, closing the distance and just plain fighting.
Taking chances outside of the ring means to find, negotiate and signing to fight the very best opposition and competition available.
However, so far Boots hasn’t shown the willingness to sign and fight the very best competition that is available. He did offer to challenge Brian Norman, Jr though before the latter priced himself out.

Risks outside the ring you say
Care to explain
I’d rather he take risks in the ring by fighting top tier fighters instead of the crap he’s been offering us

Boots has great potential. The kid could punch, has a good chin, he’s athletic, with a decent ring IQ and lots of physical ability.
However, it’s time for him to start taking some risks outside of the ring. If he does then yes; He could be a generational great and P4P fighter.

There is a reason Canelo, Shakur, Floyd etc all praise him
Real recognises real.
They have all sparred him or grew up around him.
The only guy to claim he's overrated was Shawn Porter who throws nothing but praise his way after sparring him;
boots looks yuge!
What will happen is Boots will destroy him then fans/critics will backtrack. It will go from Bakhram being a threat, the boogeyman etc to what I have been saying and maybe even worse. As soon as Boots flattens him he'll be a bum whose only notable win was vs Tim Tyszu who is in all honesty is one of if not the worst world champion I've ever seen..
how many times have i heard this before, the main reason the russian is seen as a 'bogeyman' by some is that noone will fight him which creates that talk, boots can end that talk if he wants by taking him out & tim had some good wins and was in with some good guys so u put him down while raising boots up all the time who has declined his big fights so far, hard to figure out really
