Before we dismiss him he originally came from an amateur boxing background (rumoured to go 25-3 all wins via K.O granted this was in Brazil where the level is not so good) and is 1-0 1 K.O as a pro. Despite being a heavily decorated kickboxer and very accomplished in MMA he primarily uses his boxing skills/hands.
He's not an MMA guy whose power wouldn't translate he can absolutely punch.
Could he have any real success in say this dead CW division?
I'm not talking Jai Opetaia but could he beat a 41-42yr old Badou Jack? or say Billam-Smith?
I think he maybe could you know.. :dunno:
Alex would be or should I say is a giant HW, he is a massive guy.
I have no idea how he ever made 185, he struggles to make 205. Him making 185 with his height and bone density is probably one of lifes biggest mysteries lol
I do not buy his stats at all no way is he 6'4, more like 6'6
I've seen him stood next to Tyson Fury (granted I don't believe Fury is 6'9 like he claims) and he was practically the same size.
He's probably closer to 6'6 and 240 with fists the size of lunchboxes, he has incredible bone density.
The cut to 185 killed him.
He was out on his feet in the first Adesanya fight but saved by the bell, then KO’d cold in the rematch (in a fight he was looking like he was about to win by KO) by a shot that didn’t even look that clean or hard.
Then at LHW I don’t think he’s even been buzzed once.
The weight cut clearly had huge effects on him. Like you say how he even made it was a mystery let alone being champion.
He started off as a boxer and has nearly 30 amateur boxing matches, 1 pro fight and won nearly every one.
His main weapons are his hands throughout his kickboxing career and MMA career. How is he not a boxer? You have guys with a few amateur fights being labelled as such why not him?
He has more experience in boxing than a lot of guys who fight professionally.
He knocked an olympic medallist out cold in boxing.
Dillian Whyte came from a kickboxing background as did Jarrell Miller who utilised pure boxing - I don't think he even knows how to throw or check a kick.
His stance is more suitable for boxing than kickboxing even.
I think even at 38 he'd be a real danger to a lot of these not so good CWs and HWs. Its not like they're skilled enough to get inside or remain elusive on the outside, they would be right in front of him and are dumb enough to try trading hooks with him.
I think you made the clinically diagnosed imbeciles retreat
Alex would be a nightmare for anyone
I see a guy with amazing timing and distance control with not to mention dynamite hands akin to a prime Kovalev

he was initially a champ at 185lbs at ufc where he was initially a champion but was clearly dehydrated then now is champ at 205lbs, don't think he would be a big heavyweight, not in mma terms and certainly not at boxing, probably walks 220lbs max
He was 234 in the cage vs Ankalev so he's not 220 max.
Fury really humiliated himself with Francis, what we saw us what can happen in the gym behind closed doors all the time when one guy isn't in shape and not taking it seriously. But we seen Tyson look far better with us just the next year so it's clear what happened
Fury came to the Ngannou fight to clown around in an exhibition and Ngannou came to hurt Fury. Fury didn't figure that out until he'd already been cut and dropped.
It was pretty embarrassing on the whole.

Hes allegedly closer to 240. They cut massive amounts of weight in MMA.
Not a big HW especially by todays standards but definitely big for cruiserweight. Hes got a bigger frame than Usyk. Not that it ultimately matters that much in regards to his potential in boxing anyway, hes too stiff and flat footed.
The problem with these UFC guys is they are under contract and that contract prevents them from boxing while they are still with Dana which for them means no boxing in their prime
So then the only time we see them box is in their late 30s post UFC contract and shot
McGregor was a one off and I'm sure Dana didn't mind the cut he took and there was no damage to the UFC brand for him to lose to a relatively still young Floyd who had only been retired 2 years
McGregor pushed his punches and looked pretty bad but he's just thrown off the deep end in a single fight, I'm sure If he switched at 25 and spent a few years build experience he could get rid of those habits but that's never happening if they still want to be in the UFC
Hes a big long guy for his weight division i think from what I've heard
Wlad made a whole career of leaning back with minimal head movement due to his range awareness and if theres one thing Alex has perfect its range awareness

Such a generalised low iq response
Ngannou and Alex are far from the same
Alex's pressure would give anyone trouble and he would still have dynamite in his hands with boxing gloves on
You mention he'd need to be in with a fat drunk to have a chance so why not name a few top boxers who you wouldnt give Alex a chance against
I wouldn't give him a chance against any world level boxer
Because he's NOT A BOXER
is that "low IQ" enough for you to understand?
i don' think so, his boxing is great for mma and kickboxing where you can afford to stand upright with barely any head movement due to headkicks but i think he would be too stiff to f with a real boxer, watch his sparring with khalil coe (full, not the 10 second clip someone posted above)

No, see Ngannou vs Joshua
These MMA punchers lose a lot of power when they put boxing gloves on and go up against boxers and I don't expect perreras "technique" to help him out much.
Maybe if you can find a fat drunk like a cruiserweight version of fury, who won't take him seriously at all, he might have a bit of success.
But any top 25 boxer who trains properly deals with him with ease, again, see Ngannou vs AJ

Once again, they're kickboxers.
Just like Vitali Klitschko, Chris Algieri, Yoshiki Takei, and Sergey Lipinets were before they started boxing.
And, again, Adesanya has 5 pro boxing wins to his credit.
But they won't be successful in pro boxing!!! why do you keep trying to debate this... ok, they might be able to beat some C level boxers but they will never be champions in pro boxing like how they are in the UFC.
Algieri turned pro boxing at the age of 19!!!! Vitali at 25!! Yoshiki at 23, Sergey at 25!! MOTHAFUCKIN Pereira is 38 right now!! If Alex cross over to pro boxing, he'll be just like Francis Ngannou.

He's very upright but he does move his head he just doesn't waste energy moving it unnecessarily. Its very subtle but he does slip shots and counters well.
I feel he limits it more with MMA as he to look out for kicks and take downs.
Even Ngannou against Fury he showed a lot more skill than he ever did in MMA even if Fury did flatter him badly.
I think this is more problematic against guys who can box on the fly and utilise a lot of angles however not many fit that bill. The thing is these CWs and HWs for most part are just as static as he is, they have no head movement either and essentially just stand in front of him
Bolt upright, head never moving from center line exactly like Ngannou
Yup he gets sparked by any half decent boxer
"Oh but he was a kickboxer though", yes and thats a totally different sport with a different skill set, different range, different everything to boxing.
