I'm struggling to see anyone...
Undefeated Espinoza? Picasso?
Or will Mexican fans have no choice but to put the spotlight on a Mexican-American? like Benevidez or Bam Rodriguez...
No next face of boxing in Mexico for some years I believe, though I do think there will be eventually.
As much I like Espinoza, Nunez and Medina, I don't think they have that level of markability, and while they are the world championship level, they likely will not be recognized as these elite P4P fighters that can fight that much higher weight classes or utterly dominate every top level opponent.
I do think they will will hold it down by making some big fights for the boxing Mexican fan base. Also some fighters like Cruz, Ramirez and other world ranked contenders that might win a title for a period of time.
Rafael Espinoza is set to return Nov. 15 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico against a WBO ranked fighter in a title defense. It was rumored that it was against Luis Alberto Lopez, but a journalist commented that might not be the case, yet to see.
Navarrete vs Suarez 2 fell through (bad news), and now the fight between Nunez and Navarrete is being done for February-March (good news), quite likely in Los Mochis or Mexico City. The winner could fight Suarez.
Christian Medina is aiming to fight Seiya Tsutsumi, but Seiya has plans on fighting Antonio Vargas. So it could be a unification later on if he is successful. But according to the WBO rankings, Juan Francisco Estrada as ranked #2 there, so a title defense of Christian Medina vs Juan Francisco Estrada could really catapult the winner.
Marketable and quite fundamentally sound would be Marco Verde if he doesn't get derailed by meeting his match early on, he was really well backed during the Olympics, the videos on the net which got taken down had the range of 1-3 million viewers and his pro fights have 200-500 K viewers. He also competes at Middleweight, where many light Middleweights might move up there.
If Brandon Mosqueda wins the WBC Grand Prix Tournament in the featherweight section, I think he will get big backing and I do think he is very skilled, kind of reminds me of Marco Antonio Barrera during his super bantamweight run.
El Divino Espinoza has everything to be the next face of mexican boxing, he is skilled, he is a ko machine, he is tall enough to conque as many weight classes as he wishes, he can even sing hahaha
I think he has a good chance to be the next face of Mexican boxing for the next 3-5 years if everything goes right for him.
If he beats or gives a fight of the year performance his stock can skyrocket overnight
Espinoza is a problem.
But that freaky long limb frame is not exactly idol material.

do you think picasso will pull out of the fight goodman style? hes already done that once. i could see his team trying to market him tank style and avoiding the beatdown ahead of him
That is a pr tactic. But 2x would be shameful.
Picasso is poster boy material. He also got some skills.
But he is way too green for the Monster.
I see similarities with him and a younger cinnamon boy.
Canelo loses badly to Mayweather, then comes back to become a big star.

Picasso can pass for a white boy
Mexicans like white passing guys after the Saul era
so maybe Picasso?
especially if he upsets Naoya

have they
Saul and Juan are the best Mexicans recently
neither are higher tier all times
I am speaking in general.. Mexican boxers from the past. Duran, Chavez, Morales, Marquez, Berrera, De la Hoya. etc.
I asked this question recently... I think we will see a shift in boxing. Mexico/Mexicans have been so dominant in boxing for years but I believe once Canelo is gone, we will start to see japanese boxers and african american boxers leading the way. African american boxers used to be the dominant force but the mexican boxers kinda took over but now I see the tide shifting back to the african american boxers. have they

Vergil Ortiz is still in good position even after the setbacks.
A couple more quality wins and he might get some real traction..him and Jaron can be good rivals
the classic Black Mexican boxing rivalry
Nobodu from Mexico stands out atm.
The ginger fangirls are still afraid of and making excuses their god ducked Benavidez, only to get fawking embarrassed by Bud. So David is out.
Bam is exciting but too small.
Resendiz vs Pacheco.....if Pacheco beats him and continues to fight proper opps, he has a chance.
