I was a fan of Canelo a few years ago. Even when I stopped liking him and saw him on the decline, I did not think he'd seriously lose this badly. I put $20 on a Canelo decision.
I didn't expect him to lose almost every round in the way that he did. Bud is 38 ffs and was moving up 2 weight classes, practically 3 since the fight before was 147, and he was bullying Canelo like he was the bigger fighter. At least when Canelo lost to Floyd, Floyd is the goat, and Bivol was bigger and extremely skilled.
I can't think of a huge star like Canelo losing the way he did last week. I'm still just shocked. Respect to Bud.
Losing to someone who fought at 147 2 fights ago and had a meh performance against a 154lber is embarrassing as ****. Floyd and Bivol were not embarrassing imo.
It’s never embarrassing losing to someone better than you.
Nelo has been fighting professionally since 15
Had a 1000000000% more difficult road to get to where he is now than Bud.
If Nelo had Bud's list of opps, he'd be looking fresh, too.
100%...Canelo's had 26 more pro fights and faced far more ELITE opposition compared to Crawford who'd only fought Spence prior to their fight. In fact, Canelo even called him out on it. In comparison, Canelo has faced Golovkin (thrice), Mayweather, Bivol, Kovalev, Mosley, Cotto, Lara etc.
Some people might argue that Mosley, Kovalev etc. were at the end of their career's when he fought them but so was Spence who Crawford effectively retired.
This thread is a troll
many had the fight wide decision but Saul was still competitive despite the fact and hurt TBud thrice
TBud is a great boxer who turned out to be closer in size to Saul than originally thought
to me embarrassing losses would be
Buff Guy Joshua Dubois. There was a sense that there was nothing buff could do
Buff Guy Joshua Ruiz. Was winning then gets knocked out due to dumb decision tactic
In both instances they were decent contenders who weren’t good
Haye Wlad was humiliating. Haye made graphics of himself beheading Wlad and couldn’t back any of it up on fight night
Fighting Scared regularly getting on his knees as if to submit and apologize by blowing the champ
I think 116-12 or 115-113 were the correct scorecards...in other words, all 3 judges got it RIGHT (for once).
Canelo struggles with fighter's with good movement as Mayweather, Bivol, Crawford & Lara all have EXCELLENT feet. He's also had issues with southpaws in the past (many believe that Lara won their fight) and Bud's decision to fight the entire fight left-handed didn't help matter's either.
However, it was no one-sided ass whooping or embarrassing defeat as some people are trying to claim. He lost a close fight to the p4p #1 and there's NO shame in that. However, I don't think a rematch would pan out any differently as Crawford was able to handle his power whereas flat-footed Canelo was unable to handle his movement.
Agreed...Crawford made him look OLD in there and his reflexes started to wane as the fight went on. It's a shame because I would've loved to have seen Crawford face PRIME versions of Spence & Canelo but we shouldn't discredit his victory. He deserves to be called p4p #1.

Testing positive for PED’s, delaying a rematch after a terrible draw that was a loss is what was embarrassing.

was that your pocket money?
Hmm pretty much. I normally spend $100 minimum a bet but I was lacking so much faith in Canelo I only wanted to use pocket change.

in post fight presser Saul admitted to his body not responding to what he needed it to do
boxing is incredibly forgiving towards losses taken when past prime going onto washed

Yes it can't be too embarrassing when so many picked bud to win. Bud called Nelo out, as it's obvious bud only did that when bud knew he'd had a long time to prepare for Nel o and was ready for nelo
Yup...Bud certainly did his homework and took him to school on fight night. However, the version of Canelo he faced was faded and had been through multiple wars and REALLY lost 3-4 times. Still, it was a great victory nonetheless as jumping up 2 weight classes to defeat a HoF fighter is NO joke.
The GGG saga proved beyond any doubt that Canelo has no shame:
1. Threw his WBC middleweight belt in the trash to duck GGG the first time around
2. Got a gift draw in a fight he clearly lost in the 1st fight
3. Popped for PEDs before the second fight, causing a delay and causing GGG to get stripped of the IBF belt for not fighting Derevyanchenko on short notice
4. Got a gift win in a fight he clearly lost in the 2nd fight
5. Waited the older man out for FOUR MORE YEARS and dragged him up another weight class before giving him the trilogy
After that nonsense, a loss to Crawford doesn't even register on the embarrassment scale. He ducked a version of GGG that was at the end of his prime, lost twice and got bailed out by corrupt judges against a past-prime GGG, popped for PEDs, and then waited until GGG was completely and totally washed before he picked up a boring 8-4 win in the trilogy.
Canelo made over a hundred millions of dollars in a mega-fight that was watched by 40 million people - an unthinkable number for a (non-gimmick) boxing match - and the fight was really good.
Canelo is not embarrassed.
Well, maybe he is, just a teensy-weensy bit, but not too much!
