Haters said Turki is killing boxing with fights like Crawford vs Canelo because Canelo was going to walk through Crawford in the exhibition. Were they right?
If Turki and Dana kill boxing it will be one fight event at a time, but it won't happen in one fight event and it won't be because of fighter A beating or walking through fighter B
Its too late now. They've just signed a 7 year deal with Paramount. Apparently Netflix only wanted the monthly numbered cards which killed the deal.
Ah yeah, didn't know that. Guess it ain't happening then, lol.

Live viewership Crawford vs Alverez certainly speaks otherwise. Terence Crawford's win against Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez to become the undisputed super-middleweight champion attracted a total of 41.4 million live viewers.
You see, very few people would fail to make the distinction between childhood games like futball (soccer), basketball, cricket, baseball, American football, etc., and adult combat sports. That, and the aspect of our being upright creates is embedded in our DNA. For these reasons; Boxing will always thrive, and it's heroes remembered.
When Boxing dies, all the other sports will have died off generations before.
I don't see why it won't eventually, especially if Dana White is now involved. I'm sure he'll make moves to get it over to Netflix. Just a matter of time.

I also liked the fight. Way more competitive than people expected. Crawford held his own, and it definitely didn't kill boxing like the haters said. If anything, it brought more eyes to the sport. I caught the replay on flosports tv, solid coverage as always. Looking forward to what’s next.
No.
However, the 1:00am start time on the East Coast ( I am in NJ) was just f-cking ridiculous.
The main event should’ve started at 10:00pm EST to maximize viewership.
I was falling asleep in the chair for the first four rounds or so. I was about to call it quits and watch it in the morning, but the fight was too good I was able to stay up and finish it.
No boxing has been dead
The casuals at work, one never even heard of Crawford
The other said madeimov was a bum and never watched that fight
A lot of people said it was boring but they don't care about technical fights they just want to see a KO
I actually took a nap and set my alarm for 11pm. Went back to sleep until 1230am. Sh-t still wasn’t on lol
I watched from the UK, after the post fight stuff it was 7am. I knew it would go late, so I slept from 12-4, then after the fight for a few hours. I wish they'd sort this out though. Undercards run way too long. Big fights should be on earlier and absolutely nobody is watching Boxing for music performances. Nash out - His Majesty
As an MMA fan i'm really disappointed that the UFC didnt end up on Netflix. Its hard to overstate the kind of exposure it gives and how many people who dont normally watch will end up tuning in if they see it on there. I hear the WWE is doing very well from it too.
Its a big win for boxing, I just wish it was a regular thing rather than a few fights here and there.

I spoke to a dude at my job whose normally an MMA guy and tuned it to watch it with his own buddies. They said they initially tuned in and saw an empty arena so they figure the main even didn't start it yet and turned it off, watched some other stuff. They kept tuning back in to see when the main was about to start and couldn't believe how late before it eventually did. Despite that, they watched it and found it highly entertaining which is a good thing considering they're not boxing fans first and the fight had no knockdowns/KO.

Some shocking things I'll say are that with all the fights, no knockouts or even a knockdown. That's a let down during these mega events. One of my buddies that came over to watch it ended up leaving before the main event because he just didn't want to get home so late as he had stuff to do early Sunday morning. He literally bounced right before the main event started but I didn't blame him. I was nearly falling asleep after being in food/booze coma, lol.

I'll say, the late start time is truly annoying. When folks are barely staying awake after all the prehype, it's terrible. Imagine if they actually did the national anthems? The fight probably would have ended around 3am, lol. We also thought it was nuts when a lot of rookies were facing each other in 10 rdrs instead of 8 or 6s. That was rough considering they went the distance. How Mbilli and Martinez not score at least a knockdown with like more than 1000 punches thrown is beyond me.
Long gone are the days of drinking until 330 am on a fight night arguing with posters about fights with controversial endings.
Yup. lol. I need my beauty sleep.
I had to find a vid the next morning, can't stay up that late anymore.

Yeah I know bro. Pipe dream.
Just imagine how many more would’ve enjoyed that fight had it started 10:00pm, even 11:00, on the east coast.
I do like the fact the DAZN fights from England come on Sat afternoon here.
Since the card was in Vegas, I'm sure the start time was marketed towards those who partied and gambled afterwards.
It didn`t help either. The fight was far from being great. canelo is pretty much done.
It got tens of millions of live viewers and drew a crowd of 70,000. The fight wasnt amazing but it was decent enough, and it solidified Crawford as an ATG. I dont see how it could be interpreted as anything but a massive plus for boxing.
Good luck getting the powers to be to change. The only significant change I've seen lately is fights starting insanely early because they're held in Japan. When they're held in Saudi Arabia, it's at a more reasonable time, but still early.
