difference was all the good fighters were with top rank when floyd was with them so it didnt make sense to leave. top rank only had an old pac when crawford was there, all the other welters like thurman spence and porter were pbc I am speaking of welterweights. Crawford's situation was very similar to Mayweather's. Mayweather was literally begging Arum for an Oscar De La Hoya fight for years but Bob never delivered it for him. Which was one of the reason's why he left the company. Also, who are some of these good fighters are you speaking of at Toprank when the time Floyd was there? All I know is that Mayweather chased an Oscar fight with Toprank but never got one. He had to settle for a Zab Judah fight instead as a consolation prize.

Bud never had the charisma. And he never tried to make it up with increasing his activity. Love it or hate it. Which is why he’ll never be the face of boxing. Some hardcore fans may feel that way about him now, but ppl wont think that in a couple months. I suppose Pacman had that status because he literally fought everyone that the fans wanted. Not the case with TC.

Just like they did Mayweather. By extending his contract every time it was up to prevent him from signing with the PBC. When knew he was never going to get the Pacquiao or Spence fights under Bob Arum. The dude being 38 and probably knocking on retirement any day now is sad to call the face of boxing... Except I'm sure a 100million+ fight may loom for him making sure he doesn't retire just yet. Though the face of boxing really needs to be someone who’s young and can carry the sport for years as did Canelo (whether you liked or hated him). To be fair, his last 3 fights have been in 3 different weight classes and he skipped one along the way. When you're moving up it makes sense to take your time and do it properly. And COVID was before that. He didn't become a once per year fighter until 2020 when he was already 33.

Floyd isn’t a good looking guy, but he’s not ugly either. He also, as you pointed out, brought other qualities to the table. Bud doesn’t capture the imagination, and his looks certainly don’t inspire positive attention. bud does what bud does everyone is different he has his style and its understated and thats how he is, hes not flash and loud like floyd i think its a bit too late in his career to be 'the face' of boxing whatever that really means, i mean a big win over canelo should be qualification to achieve this but bud will probably just go home and noone will really hear from him for quite a while, is he going to take on the no1 challenger at 168? or retire or what?

TBud has 3 or 4 fights remaining I’d have him fight twice next year at 38 then one or two in 2027 at 39 retire undefeated go out on top as the undisputed middleweight king
