The new ownership paid decent money for the site but I reckon the main reason is to promote probox events. The owner has seemingly stripped out all maintenance work but that is short-sighted because he must be paying Chris algieri and Paulie a heftie amount to work on here - they won't come cheap.
When ODLH had The Ring they just scrubbed years of comments and started fresh - of course, they forgot about community, so none of the old posters returned there. The way things are going here .....
and yes, I get locked out for 24-36 hours at a time
I think there's far too many forums on this site. Fwiw...this is the only one i post in.
And presently site stats on the index page say there are 6.5k users on line.
Im just imagining 6 and a half thousand people all lining up to take a shït on 10 toilets.
That's bound to create some problems yeah ?
Doubt it. That's never been a problem. Before the site got bought it only crashed when there was a huge upset or a big fight had just finished and people were desperate to be first to talk shlt lol
Well I've been a member of your FunkyFootLover website for years now (Toe-b-wan-Kenobi is my handle over there) and it doesn't crash nearly as much as it does here. Boxingscene needs to get their crap together.
My secret is out!

With no back-end maintenance, these antiquated forum databases, especially ones with high traffic, essentially get clogged. I know, I run one of these ancient forums myself (on a different topic).
I'd love to start a boxing forum, but timing in relation to "not too many people will care" has stopped me.

Yeah, I’ve noticed the same thing. The site seems to have random periods where it goes offline or loads really slowly. Could be server maintenance or just traffic spikes, but it’s definitely been happening more often lately. Hopefully the admins can give an update soon so we know what’s going on.
Surely it can't just be me that can't access the forums either directly or through the front page ?
Yes, it goes down for me too regularly..I get suspicious when it happens, and think maybe I shouldn't visit this place. But thought it happened only to me. So I tried accessing this site on my phone too( when I only usually use my tablet) and my phone couldn't reach site too. So I jump to the conclusion the site going through.maintenance. I'm robably wrong though
No one uses internet forums anymore.
New owners dont care about them and dont maintain them.
Damn...im just a no one nobody cares about and high maintenance to boot.
Sad :(
