Bivol didn’t want the smoke with Benavidez for whatever reason and he’s clearly delaying the Beterbiev trilogy too.
Why not just make Beterbiev vs Benavidez for the WBC. Feels like a missed opportunity with both on the same card.
Put Yarde in with Smith instead and them Morrell can rematch Khataev after a controversial decision win LTO.
When a fighter gives up a belt to not make a mandatory defense that's called ducking. Especially to fight somebody they have already fought twice. You can use whatever semantics you want but that's what it is.
Oh okay, then I was today years old when I discovered Usyk ducked Dubois, Crawford ducked Boots, Canelo ducked Scull, Opetaia ducked Briedis, Lennox Lewis ducked John Ruiz and Chris Byrd, Tyson Fury ducked Vyacheslav Glazkov, Hagler ducked Herol Graham, Mike McCallum ducked Steve Collins, and the list goes on. Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson were both a pair of duckers who ducked Paul Briggs and Rico Hoye to fight each other, the cowards. There sure are an awful lot of duckers in boxing.
I wouldn't call this an issue of semantics as much as I would call it an issue of literacy, namely yours.
Yeah he’s clearly stalling the division. Whether he has legitimate reasons or not. It’s a shame he didn’t announce this indefinite absence earlier because we possibly could have got Beterbiev vs Benavidez which is the best fight in the division stylistically IMO. Would be a guaranteed war.Buff Guy Yarde Benavidez is war
David has been down from left hook and can be caught with rights over the top
He does the feint low lead hand that had him rocked twice by Fidel Morrell
I don't either. I was prepared to see the winner fight Benavidez which is a much more interesting fight to me. We've already seen Bivol- Beterbiev twice. Fighting for the 3rd time at this point makes no sense to me(as a fan) when there are other fights to be made. Specifically with Benavidez.
In 24 rounds I can’t think of one memorable moment too. They were high level fights but they lacked drama. I had Beterbiev quite clearly winning fight 1 but Bivol made the better adjustments in fight 2. I just don’t really see a need for fight 3.
yeah he got a pass because of the trilogy fight and the turki cash but now hes playing silly beggars with that one as well and delaying the entire division, he seems more interested in his hols and holding on to the belts and i dont hear any noises about his plans to change anything soon any way, nicely aging beter as well which is the last thing he needs at his age too, but he did fight beter x2 so that was good as well so a bit of a mixed bag with him, maybe he does have a bit of a niggling back and is very happy to call it in right now, seems most likely

Adhering to rigid guidelines without context is lazy think
Why are you pretending like you're not insinuating Bivol is ducking? You're not slick with it. Acting like you're only dealing in facts while saying stupid nonsense like Bivol "didn't want the smoke with Benavidez."
He is not ducking Benavidez nor is he ducking the guy he just went 24 rounds with either. It's clear to anyone with two eyes and as many brain cells. Benavidez stealing the WBC title was pure boxing politics. It wasn't even the WBC's turn to enforce their mandatory, but PBC and Sulaiman have a tight-knit relationship and they pushed for him to be stripped knowing that Bivol was going to do the trilogy fight with Beterbiev. Everyone knew beforehand a trilogy bout was coming if Bivol won the rematch, including Benavidez himself who said he would step aside and wait for the winner in such an event.
Was Bivol contractually bound to a third fight? No, but again, anyone with any brain cells knew the trilogy bout was a given with Turki confirming as much in the ring moments after the decision was read out. Was Usyk wrong to drop the IBF belt so he could rematch Fury? No. Everyone knew the score and it's the same thing here. You're acting like Bivol chose an easier route when it's the exact opposite. And the poster above is right, if he had opted to take less money and go be the B-side on a smaller PBC-ran show in California, you would be the first one saying he "doesn't want the smoke" with Beterbiev again. He can't win either way and it's all incredibly transparent.

turki is good mates with beter of course he was going to give him the opportunity of getting his belts back, beter gave bivol and immediate rematch as well and they all make great turki cash but now bivol has put a spanner in the works and messed things up it seems, im sure turki is not that happy about it either, he may drop bivol if things dont improve, looks like it will be next year before some movement, who knows

David facing older Yarde so if he underperforms what Artur did to Yarde, trilogy would still be most intriguing
thank fight 1 judges for scoring coming forward and activity instead of clean punching:thinking:
thank Turki for demanding trilogy despite scoring both for Bivol:thinking:
You’re such a fanboy. :lol1:
Bivol had no obligation to fight Beterbiev again, nothing contractually, no mandate from any of the ABC orgs etc. He obviously took the fight for financial reasons which again is fine. He also vacated his WBC title rather than face Benavidez so clearly he didn’t want that fight. That’s a fact, whether fanboys like you choose to accept it or not.
I have no real interest in the trilogy tbh.

yeah but noone really want to see the trilogy fight is an issue as well as we have seen it twice now, benny v any of the two russians would be far more interesting a new style match up with unknown outcomes i dont see that happening for a long time nowArtur should be able to get his ko % back up again this November his opponent struggles in defense
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3bfDMIX9AUNovember opponent should be good tuneup for Artur
he’s open for all kinds of rights: Artur’s fav overhand, crosses, uppers, hooks, and straights
an 80% ko ratio small cruiser turned light heavy
at this rate Mexican Marshmellow instaRematches Yarde or fight the winner of Callum-Fidel Morrell
As Bivol-Artur trilogy finally happens
we have trilogy to deal with because fight 1 judges ucked up by underscoring Bivol’s clean punching the main points scorer per the rules of boxing

He doesn’t want the smoke, hence why he vacated his title and CHOSE not to fight Benavidez.
I think Bivol beats him, but he evidently didn’t want to fight him. I suspect for commercial reasons but it’s an irrelevant. All we know is Bivol vacated instead of fighting Benavidez. It is what it is.lot of confidence in Benavidez from you
Yarde will be the third opponent he shares with the all time greats
history has taught us that the all time greats outperform Benavidez VS mutual opponents
1st time Caleb was an incident
2nd time Gvozdyk was a coincidence
3rd time Yarde would be a pattern
4th time Callum would be David’s fault
He doesn’t want the smoke, hence why he vacated his title and CHOSE not to fight Benavidez.

How am I a fanboy? Cause I'm using logic :lol1: notice how it's your goofyass being called out in your own thread
Because you choose not to accept fact based on emotion. Typical fanboy behaviour.
I’m not saying Bivol is scared of Benavidez or would lose to Benavidez, I’m only saying he chose not to fight him and to vacate which is a FACT.
Yet you get all in your feelings about it, start labelling a two weight world champion a “bum” with a cute little nickname. It’s just typical fanboy behaviour.

I don't think we can put a time period on it, back injuries are no joke and can and often are career ending I think this is probably why they held off for so long.
Hopefully all things go well.
Dmitry Pirog comes to mind.
