Very disappointed in Tszyu, don't think his dad would ever quit, he was in that fight and it looked like he could have landed something to hurt fundora but he just quit. also worrying how he lacks basic iq , no jab to the body, no left hook, that mendoza ironed out fundora with, no head movement, no footwork, no adjustments, just decided to spam the most readable punch in boxing (the overhand) i really thought he was going to be the real deal, he has a decent resume with names like horn, harrison, gausha, spencer, mendoza and to some degree hogan and inoue, really thought he would reach the top, what a shame.
he needs a new corner, it was his brother who threw in the towel vs bakhram, australian corners notoriously slow in protecting their fighter,
tzuyu has gotten worse skill wise.
It's unfortunate he pulled out this time when if he had their first fight, his entire course of his career would probably look a lot different than it is now.
That's a really good point. He was still all in at that time tho. But by the second fight, he:
1. had been mismanaged in the first grueling and bloody fight
2. Was beaten senseless by Murt
3. Was somehow completely unadapted to Fundora in the rematch, plus Fundora was improved
After some serious punishment, and looking completely out of his wits on his stool, it was time to be cut sling load.
I'm all about loyalty where it's due, but he shouldve replaced his team after the 1st Fundora (and I said so multiple times then fwiw). He couldve fought a lighter touch than Murt to regain confidence, and then train with some kind of strategy and skills to rematch the beanpole.
Instead, he found out for everybody how not to fight Murt, and how coming forward without movement and a well thought-out plan wont work vs Fundora (as well as reminding everybody to beware of those elbows). I like Tszyu, but he's a cautionary tale at this point.
Thurman pulled out of the fight because of injuries which are common for Thurman. Had absolutely nothing to do with Haymon. That's a ridiculous and unintelligent conspiracy theory. On top of that, Thurman would have probably beaten Tszyu even worse. Tszyu has always been overrated.
Haymon did the same bait and switch trick with Spence/Ugas on Pacquiao because he knew Spence would be slaughtered by Pac. Thurman is totally shot and has been for about five years. He's years older than he claims. One of those birth certificate fakers. Everybody knew it in the Florida amateur circuit where Thurman started. Spence was ruined by the car crash.
Haymon scrooed Tszyu big time but Tszyu isn't bright enough to realize it. Tszyu ruined a bunch of Haymon's PBC pretenders though before Haymon got him back.

I believe the injury he sustaned vs fundura 1 where he basicly bled out has taken a lot of him.
Fundora was too good. He hit Fundora with his best shots and nothing happened. He gave up. Deep down he knows Haymon scrooed him by puling out Thurman and bait and switching in Fundora. He should not have fallen for that Haymon trick. Haymon ruined Tszyu's career by betraying him with Fundora. Tszyu had destroyed PBC by beating all those Haymon pawns. Haymon backstabbed Tszyu. Fundora is impossible to fight.

great response, i agree with everything you have said, fundora is a freak but i do think standing infront of him will make him look better than what he is, it is insane that one of boxing most promising fighters went from the cusp of greatness and now will essentially have to retire , within the space of a year
That's the worst part about it and all because of terrible management on his team's part. You can sum up how bad it was that they stopped the fight THIS time when they should have, THAT time. It would of made a huge difference in his career.
fundora has established himself as a freak of nature, i don't think he is elite by any means as his best wins, lubin and tsyzu have made him look better than what he is by standing infront of him and just trading, i dont think he gets past charlo, crawford, virgil or bakhram and then you have guys like boots and zayas waiting as well so i dont expect him to be champion for much longer
Possibly, but would like to see all of them have a crack. Well, not so much Charlo or Crawford, but Virgil and Murt, no doubt.
Fundora ain't elite, but he is improving.
fundora has established himself as a world class fighter, i do think it is a bit unfair that he is essentially the length of what you would consider a " tall " heavyweight but thats just the nature of the game,i do think a charlo or bakhram would hurt fundora, i alsothink virgil would also get to him with his body attack. its frustrating to watch because i do rate fundora but guys like tsyzu and lubin have made him look good by adopting the game plan of standing in front of each other and playing rock em sock em robots. mendoza was side stepping the whole fight and eventually that made space for the left hook,
Fundora is a genetic freak or he was a science experiment with growth hormones as a kid. He's like a better version of Paul Williams. I don't see anyone beating him now, especially now with Haymon Sulaiman protection.
fundora was slowing down, he was grimacing as well meaning tszyu was hurting him, his nose as well looked like it broke, tszyu quit straight up,
Cap fundora was smiling decided to sit his ass in the pocket hold him with one arm and clubbed on him as if he was fighting his lil bro
It's okay to just say Fundora was better and improved from the usual Sebastian we see. That wasn't the same fighter who got knocked out by Mendoza.
Fundora is learning to use his awkwardness effectively. It's under development and Tszyu was damaged goods, but I liked what I saw and If he can further fine tune that reach, he could be unstoppable.
Poor Tszyu: he made some rough decisions without having the proper mental or physical attributes to counter said decisions. He either fights a real bum next, or he considers retirement.

Tszyu is just damaged goods. The first Fundora fight took a lot of unnecessary damage out of him. He didn't need to continue that fight. NOBODY would have faulted him if it was stopped due to the cut. Then after that, he faced a brutal puncher in that Russian dude. That fight surely took crazy confidence out of his ability to take a punch because he was all over the floor in that fight.
Honestly, the Fundora fight surprised me. I thought it was a bad move for Fundora in that he was risking losing what he had just obtained vs Tszyu and he could of gone on to a different opponent. Though I respect that he wanted to prove their first fight was no fluke which I still believe Fundora might have lost had the cut not occurred on Tszyu. Though now with Fundora's new confidence and Tszyu's lack of confidence, it was the perfect recipe for Fundora.
Tszyu looked like a beaten man despite landing some good shots and blooding Fundora's nose. They got the blood under control and that was probably discouraging for Tszyu considering his face was falling apart quickly. Not to mention, Fundora was being relentless. I think Tszyu just thought to himself, it was still early enough in the fight that he didn't want to go through another barrage of nonstop punches to try to land his own which took greater effort against a man that tall.

Did anyone notice that Tszyu was, purely and simply, out on his feet after Fundora repeatedly hit him hard in the final seconds of the 7th round?
Between Murtazaliev and Fundora, Tim was kicked in the head so many times, it's a miracle he's still fighting at this level. If the trend continues, he's going to end like Bobby Chacon.
