I don’t rate Barrios and think he’s a very fortunate world champ but regardless he’s a legitimate WBC world title holder.
I also did not think Manny had any business being back in the ring with a world champion at 46 years old. I think everyone thought this was a bad idea and could only damage the legacy of Pacquiao.
However he proved us all wrong. Pac did more than hold his own, I actually felt he edged the fight and proved he can still hang with one of the best guys at 147. No farces with fake gangsters, reality stars or YouTubers. He actually went in there with an active world champion and proved he could still compete at that level.
Amazingly I actually think this fight enhances his legacy, similar to when Hopkins drew with Pascal despite everyone writing him off. I suspect the rematch is inevitable but I hope Manny walks away. Has nothing left to prove.
I don't think Pacquiao has anything to prove to anyone. I'm assuming he's doing this because he has money problems? I always feel awful seeing older guys fighting just to get paycheck while they have punch drunk. Also, Pacquiao had his moment under the bright lights and it's time for some of these younger guys to be given a chance. I dunno, I love Pacquiao, so I don't want to see him get hurt.
1? When's the last time he destroyed anybody? Slow ya roll kid.
He destroyed the then-MMA King Conor McGregor for his 50th win, he destroyed a current top-contender Tenshin Nasukawa.
Meanwhile, when was the last time Manny destroyed someone? He almost lost to that Anpo guy and cannot knock DK out.

This comment is confusing me? You sound suprised? of course it enhances his legacy. Pac was best of era, and this confirms it.
Flyweights are supposed to be prime at 28 years old.
Rumor has it... actually Pacquaio confirmed with plenty of interviews, he never trained for Anpo because well, he didn't think it was going to be a tough fight. Obviously Anpo being young and facing Pac, trained his ass off. I'm not saying we should put much into the match because it was meaningless, but anyone that took that as if it was a serious Pac who trained his @$$ off was seriously mislead. VS Barrios however is Pac who trained his @$$ off at 46 years old.
Anpo looked pretty good early on with Strickland too he was outboxing him in their sparring session but gassed. He had to use a lot of energy to throw hard to keep 30+ lbs heavier strickland off him while strickland could just throw arm punches and use very little energy but trouble him due to his size. I guess thats a long winded way to say we atleast know he is a better boxer than strickland
Anpo has very sharp and fast punches for a kickboxer
I doubt pathaticass pbc has the money to even pay him 20mil
Haymon is cheapskate now that he's running out of money. Haven't heard what he got for Barrios, did you?
Mugs hyping Cherrios :lol1: !!!!!!
He was the worst of the available "champs"
If Pac wants real credit, not just -
"Good for his age." bullshlt, he has to fight a legit champ.
Or find more Cherrios' and grab more age related complements.
Pac looked better than his fight with Anpo
His timing seemed better. idk if its just that barrios is slow or the full training camp helped.
I was expecting him to get ran over
it also looked like barrios didnt try very hard. was he paid to throw it or was he just showing too much respect IDK

This is actually a pretty high point. It goes to show what a weak era the division is in. I know Barrios is the worst of the bunch, but still being a champion. A champion of the NEXT gen. Remember when Pac fought Broner and Thurman? That was already a generation outside of his own. He's moved on to the NEXT gen and is still whoopin a$$ at 46 years old. It goes to show what a beast he was in his younger years and just how much he didn't give a f**k who he was facing.
I don't know if the era is weak or pacman is just still that good even at 46 years old.
Rumored around 15mil for Barrios fight...
Not even what he was making while he was active smh
But yeah I saw that too and if the reports are true then barrios bumass got something from 500k to 1mil lol so they pretty much just gave pac everything they could and the champ some scraps
What's the crazy thing about pacman is that at his age he can still hang with all those top 10 boxers at welterweight and still has a chance to kick their asses.

It was just a tune up fight for the 46 YEARS OLD, 4 years retired and 2 months of training. Now the soon to be 47 YEARS OLD is ready to any top WW of the division.
Pac comeback is all about the money. He sees a phony like Paul getting $30m a fight and a shot Tyson getting near the same, Pac figures he deserves his paydays too. And he does. If the market will pay up.

Let's not kid ourselves barios is great. But any champ should be beating a 46 year old whose been out of ring g for 4 years with no tune up.
Pac is greater after the bario s fight and today, than he was the moment after he beat thurman at 41years old

You have to give huge credit to Pacquiao. | BoxingScene Community
