So I bought the PPV yesterday and really enjoyed the fights. And thought, hey, maybe next weekend will be fun too.
Didn’t realize that show is also a PPV as well. But the main event should be good, maybe it’s worth splurging again, right?
Wrong. So very wrong.
DAZN should have given this away for free with a subscription.
Lawrence Okolie vs Kevin Lerena
Daniel Lapin vs Lewis Edmondson
Andrii Novytskyi vs Vladyslav Sirenko
Lasha Guruli vs James Francis
Aadam Hamed vs Ezequiel Gregores

9 cards with multiple world titles in each for a total of $40 paid.
It’s hard to justify paying $60 for one fight especially when it was part of my espn+ subscription the last time they fought. Also Usyk is the undisputed champion. He never ‘’lost’’ the IBF title. So when he beats Dubois again he will be undisputed for a couple of weeks or months until the next corrupt alphabet organization fractures the titles again. Being a boxing fan is expensive but this is laughably crazy for a one fight card.
Fuck, I just checked DAZN and they have Itauma/Whyte for $49.99. This app is expensive as hell…I think I’m going to abandon it once my subscription is up and sign up on isolated months.
Should reviewed the card first, after the fight you could had watched the highlights or better the full fight on the internet, but reccomend avoiding any spoilers.
Outside of the main event of Usyk vs Dubois II which think it will pretty good. There is the solid cards of Pacquiao vs Barrios and Bam vs Cafu. Sure not the same quality fights as yesterday but don't doubt there will be some bangers.
Besides the noteworthy main events, there be Cardenas vs Crowder, William vs Oliha, Pacheco vs McCumby, Cruz vs Fierro II, Fundora vs Tszyu II. The prelims of Pacquiao vs Barrios also has the comeback of Marcial, Picasso, Magsayo, and Gary Russell Jr.
Did you even read my original post? I said the main event should be good.
I simply refuse to pay $60 for one fight. Especially after just having paid $60 for a card with 4 good matchups yesterday.
You’re not alone and I echo your sentiments.
DAZN has had 3 PPV’s going on in the recently:
(Paul/Chavez, Berlanga/Sheeraz, and now Usyk/Dubois 2 this coming weekend)
I saw they had an offer (similar to the Times Square/Canelovs.Scull deal) where you could purchase two and get a discount but even then I didn’t bite.
I legitimately almost purchased Paul/Chavez based on wanting to watch Farmer/Schofield specifically but was able to will myself to forego it. And last night I almost purchased Berlanga/Sheeraz solely but I was busy with the family so I just didn’t bother. Usyk/Dubois 2 as much as I consider the importance of the undisputed title at stake, it doesn’t interest me that much right now, especially when the undercard isn’t that interesting. I’m sure the atmosphere will be electric.
Normally, I’m more intrigued by the DAZN and Riyadh cards over PBC, but to be honest, I genuinely think I’m going to get more bang for my buck with the Pacquiao/Barrios card.
The curiosity factor aside of Pacquiao/Barrios, Pitbull/Fiero and Fundora/Tsyzu in their respective rematches should bode well. There’s almost no chance those won’t be entertaining bouts, and that’s where my money is going to be spent on Saturday.
The main event has the World Heavyweight Championship being contested in a competitive fight. If you're not interested in that then it's perhaps time to find a different sport.
I can't speak for more than 60mil people but I should imagine a significant proportion will be sufficiently interested in seeing Dubois fight Usyk to be willing to pay £25 ($33) to watch it live. Some probably spend more than that on vape products in a week.

I’m a more discerning boxing aficionado.

Are people in the UK actually excited to pony up for this? Frank Warren is taking the piss by wanting to charge for that.

I agree. I thought about making the purchase but there just isn't much of an undercard to justify the price tag to me. If it was $20 sure I would have no problem.
Also the fact that the Bam vs Cafu and Pacquiao vs Barrios card is happening later that night makes the $60 price for Usyk vs Dubois more off putting. I like the fight but not that much.

That is truly one SH>T undercard! Not one fight worth seeing plus we have to see Prince Naseem's mediocre son again.
I’m a more discerning boxing aficionado. $60 for the lineup yesterday was fair, but $60 for next week’s crap card? No thanks.

Buy Pacquiao vs Barrios then.
Tszyu vs fundora 2 is the co main

Novytsyki pulled out and Solomon Dacres stepped in.
So it’s actually worse now . That was the 2nd most interesting fight imo.
If the main event is appealing, people buy the PPV irrespective of the undercard. The organisers are obviously sufficiently confident the PPV will sell to its target UK audience to not require over spending on the undercard.
