At an event at Fanatics Fest to hype the fight, Canelo was with Bud, Shaq, Tom Brady, and Dana White when he says to Shaq:
“If you look at his career…mention 1 elite fighter…just mention me 1 elite fighter”
Shots fired.
I like Bud, but even if he wins there needs to be some context added to it. This isn't prime Canelo he's going up against- it would be a good win for sure, but not like he beat a younger version.
it's not prime canelo but still a damm good win if TC wins. just like manny beating oscar. that win broke him out to become a star even tho it wasnt the best version of oscar. i think it's more of having the name on his resume.
He lost to bivol and mayweather. Mosley and kovaleve weren't elite when he fought them but shot.
The thing is, all but Bivol were 35 or older, that was the point I was making. Lots of big names, not fought in their primes (ergo the Jake Paul Mike Tyson comparison)
He's RIGHT...Spence is the only elite fighter Crawford has ever faced whereas Burns & Postol are nothing special at all.
Meanwhile, Canelo has faced GGG (thrice), Bivol, Mayweather, Cotto, Mosley & Kovalev who are all elite fighters.

Just like Canelo’s wins vs Cotto , Mosley , Kovi and let’s not forget the ageing GGG
it's a cash grab, if he wins then it would be a + to his legacy... but this is a cash grab first and legacy second.

Yes, this is a legacy fight for Bud. Bud already whooped Spence at WW so there's nothing else to prove there. Only ones left is Barrios and Norman. Canelo's scalp does 10x more for his legacy than Barrios's and Norman's.

How many of them were fought when they were under the age of 35? What were the results?
I mean Jake Paul has a win against Mike Tyson on his resume if we are just gonna look at names blindly, but you have to take into account age.
if TC was fighting for legacy he would have stayed and cleaned out the WW division... instead he chose to move up to fight canelo so that if he takes an L, it will be worth it. dont be fooled by this fighting for legacy crap.

No chit
I won’t take anything away from his resume but let’s be realistic
Even then I haven't seen him utterly dominant over a top level opponent, his chin and skill let's him compete at the level of his opponent and get the upper hand slightly enough to get him to `win in the scorecards as the favorite. But he didn't really hurt Mosley and Cotto who were at the end of their careers and smaller men, haven't really thought he beat Golovkin in I-II fights, the third Canelo was quite confident and coasted the fight with low activity, until he was surprised Golovkin could fight in spurts at 40 years old.
The smirk he had starting he fight was gone when he received a punch combination. Late in the fight, they were both winded. Shocking considering Canelo was 32 years old. The fight was lopsided, but the scorecards shown that Golovkin even passed it, was a tough task for him.
His most dominant wins are over Plant and Saunders, but they are feather fisted and haven't really got consistent elite level wins. Kovalev also had was coming off two difficult bouts and no time to recover and do a proper camp, the Russian was winning the fight until he gassed late, unable to react on time when getting caught with a overhand.
There are his bouts with Trout, Jacobs, Lara and etc. Which aren't bad, but not dominant. Don't think I thought of rewatching those fights that often either. Aware the are bouts like Kirkland and Angulo, but that's few of the fights he got a KO outside of 168.
Lol GGG was 35yo when he defended his Middleweight belts against Canelo which is exactly the SAME age as Cotto who was also making a title defence. Kovalev was 36yo. So what's the difference? Obviously GGG is the superior fighter and a generational talent but Cotto was fighting in his fourth weight class whereas Kovalev had just avenged his loss to Alvarez and was coming off an impressive stoppage against Yarde. Also, Mosley had just gone 12 rounds with BOTH Mayweather & Pacquiao in the 2 years prior to facing Canelo (and almost took Floyds head off) so was still a very game opponent.
Sorry buddy but you're talking absolute NONSENSE!
Like I’ve said before , Wtv makes you sleep at night
Roy Jones Jr , is he an elite fighter right now
He’s in the hof so according to you he must be elite
Now you're behaving like your arch nemesis T-Kitty...STOP it!
Did you think Spence was done when he fought Ugas ???
So just cause they are in hof , in your mind they were elite fighters when they fought
Wtv makes you sleep at night but at least don’t spread it onto others

So? Crawford fought Spence after a life-changing car crash and years of hard partying yet he's still considered an elite fighter. In fact, it's abundantly clear that he was at the END of his career as he hasn't fought since!
Therefore, it's only right to consider Kovalev an elite fighter too as he was the defending WBO Light Heavyweight champion when he faced Canelo and only had 3 losses to his name (including the first fight against Ward which many fans & media thought he WON).
As for Mosley & Cotto, they're both in the HOF so HAVE to be considered elite fighters by default plus Cotto was defending the WBC & Ring Middleweight belts at the time of facing Canelo.

Wtv makes you feel better but we all know they were at the end of their rope
Kovi was a fughin drunk coming off a hard fight with no fughin time to train
Cotto was in total decline unless you consider Sadat Ali elite lmao

Lol if Spence is considered elite than Kovalev, Mosley & Cotto have to be considered elite too! Also, both Kovalev & Cotto were defending champions at the time they faced Canelo regardless of their age.

The drunken Kovi elite ???
The Mosley who already had 7 defeats and a draw to the elite Sergio Mora ???
The Cotto who was shopworn and retired with a loss two fights later to the elite Sadat Ali ???
C’mon brother the two elite he faced ( Floyd and Bivol ) actually beat him
Throw in the first fight with GGG which imo he lost
That my friend is not elite imo

Exactly! Canelo never beat the top names on his resume when they were prime. He must have thought that no one would notice that fact.
No chit
