track n field boxing has always been there. go back to leonard hagler, then almost every mayweather fight(money not prettyboy) rigondeaux vs casa, lara v canelo.... ryan v haney, ryan straight up ran in spots, shakur vs de los santos....but to see it in back to back fights in the fatal fury fights.
is it trending? up and coming fighters will consider it a legitimate strategy seeing devin haney and the likes of scull at championship level running like slav.es. boxing officials need to impose harsh penalties. points taken, purse's witheld, disqualification a ban. draw a line in the sand.
muay thai in thailand. the ref will step in early, 1st round even, pull them together and command them to fight. cut it off before it ruins boxing even more
It's your job to cut off the ring and make your opponent move less, but if you fail, that's on you. Take accountability and do better next time instead of making excuses and demonizing your opponent. Canelo claims that he has seen many styles, has experience and has figured out cutting off the ring when it came to BJ saunders, but completely forgot how to do that against scull who is actually slower than bj saunders and has some weakness like countering after making people miss, and canelo is made excuses for the fight being "boring". He flips flops when it is convenient.
Scull was particularly bad. He barely threw, set some kind of record for least punches thrown
Don't even have a fight if he's just going to run out of range all night and not even get in range to throw to offer canelo a countering opportunity
always thought he was a social media star hypejob
the black version of Ryan Garcia
thats the haney paradox...early haney would move but he would fight his ass off too. unusually he also posts his sparring, and it was dog house. haney got the dog. i can only guess that bill, who has never fought, designed the strategy for this fight. but its gotta get cut off before we get 2 runners in there doing laps
give me the percentage!!! how much running vs shooting
because what we saw in the haney fight was 95% running and 5% actual fighting. they set some compubox record for least amount of punches in a championshipI don't watch Haney so I wouldn't know

Jaron is the best hope for American boxing!
rounds are 3 minutes. shoot for at least 2 mins, run disengage for 1 min!
...is conjecture. its just your opinion, which is wrong btw.....OBSERVABLE: a determined runner will outrun the pressure fighter. cant think of a time the hound caught the hare and ****ed it
You are right. I agree and I get all that. However, Team Alvarez knew what type of fighter they were facing.
They knew his game plan before ever stepping inside of the ring with him. Eddie Reynoso dropped the ball here.
This was easily and by far Canelo’s worst performance at 168. It looked eerily similar to his fight with Erislandy Lara.
Running and shooting at the same time is a great skill
along with coming forward with defensive discipline to counter

Yeah, boxing has to put a stop to these h o m o, safety first runners ruining the sport. The rules have to be updated to penalize the runners & huggers, or start a new league or something.
the sweet science tho!

Canelo went into this bout both unprepared, unfocused, unsharp and undisciplined.
It didn't look like he trained at all for this match.
He just showed up for the money.

However, running is still no excuse for not cutting off the ring though. If Canelo is truly the fighter and face of boxing like everyone says he is.
Then he is going to have to do better and put forth more of an effort than what he did last night. I thought his performance was both shameful and disgraceful.
This was by far the toughest competition Canelo has faced inside the168 lbs division.
I thought he did a good job at cutting off the ring. scull was just a very good runner and his fast feet. soon as he's cornered, he turns around and switches and repeats the running again. canelo has slow feet so it doesn't matter how good canelo cuts the ring off, scull is faster on his feet than canelo.

He just showed up for the money. Don't just blame Scull. Blame them both. Canelo has had more than 20 years of professional boxing experience in his career. So he should know how to cut off the ring when he has to by now.
it takes 2 to tango... when someone just doesn't want to fight, it's hard to chase them down and make them fight. it's not like the one running cant or wont throw a counter in return. so it's not as easy as it sound when the other guy just keeps running.

Shame on the fighter that moves so much, but shame on the other guy who can’t catch him as well.
Thank you! I couldn't have said it better myself. Neither guy took risks or refused to try.
Ah,the good old "it's running when I don't like the fighter, but it's boxing when I like them". Canelo looked like shit, and was hitting air all night. Tie his next opponent to a rock if he doesn't want them to move.
Did he neglect his jab?
did he ever have one? I don't recall canelo really using his jab as much? maybe in his lower weight days... but like I said, he;s been the same fighter for some years now. slow footed, high guard, walk his opponent down and throws 1 power punch at a time. it is what it is.
you said to admit he has slow feet!! so I am pointing out that he always has slow feet! so not sure what you are trying to get there.
here's bivol talking about how it;s harder to land when the other guy is running.

Did he neglect his jab?
scull was paid 3 million dollars so mission accomplished. never did anything in boxing, never beat anyone, everything was rigged for him to get to this moment, did it. money received. done.
