I know I know Garcia did not even throw a left hook the entire fight, unless I missed it... Garcia certainly looked tentative as but his jab was on point and Rolly handled it. Rolly looks great at the weight, moved well and his power seems to carry up. Could peanut butter have found chocolate here? I mean Rolly was defensively responsible, if not a bit too tentative, and frankly I was impressed.
Not quite ready to crown him the next young super star, but the way I figure, while these other guys have been bickering on social media, avoiding each other, Rolly has been sparring hard in the gym, taken fights, and getting better. He reminds me of Chisora... Always ready to scrap and I would like to see him do well. I also like Garcia and hope he gets things straight as well.
Thoughts? Come on.... I know a few of you at least will tell me I am just looking at this fight and Ryan was weak... Anyone feel like I do? I mean Rolly was stacked for the weight. And he seems able to move with that muscle...
He can go to a main event PPV against Boots and get demolished.
Once Boots tastes that power though!:lol1: Rolly has no real quickness does he? We had this kid in high school always getting into everyone's face. Slow hands, slow as an ox... I was kidding with another friend over the phone and suddenly went "Ohhh!!!" he asks "whats up you ok," I tell him "remember in 9th grade (we are both sixty) when Timothy threw that punch at me?" he says "yeah so?" "man it just landed!" :lol1:
You cool bro!! I am just fucking with you. Actually, I like you. I find you to be one of the most level -headed posters here on NSB.
I know on occasion that I can be a real prick at times. So please don’t pay me no mind. It’s never personal. I am only trying to get my point across.
However my concerns about Ryan’s well being are real.
Judging by.his aberrant behavior; All I am hearing from him is a cry for help!
Mental health and substance abuse issues among professional athletes are real; Especially.among boxers. It is what destroyed Aaron Pryor’s career.
A boxing ring is not where Ryan belongs at the present moment but inside of a mental hospital in order to receive the type of help that he so desperately needs.
:lol1::lol1:. I got/get it. Thats why I joke with you... I actually would not seriously ridicule a fighter. I always figure I take a great joke, having two sons who are practical jokers (like their dad), so I can do so with a fighter lol.
The sad truth is the same traits that often make a very determined addict make a great fighter. Human biology and neuro programming is a lot like these new cars they make which are so hard to work on now... Everything is squished into and next to other things. Our capacity for violence and the rush area for chemicals in the brain... right near the se x gratification centers:dunno:. The traits of a sociopath, even a psychopath? can be applied and used to great effect in positions of leadership... Many great men have had such traits.
Drugs are an adrenal rush, they create danger, adventure, often compulsive actions... Some of the same traits rewarded getting into a boxing ring.
I do not think this means we have to become addicts, sociopaths, and psychopaths, it is just something to be aware of. These young guys? I do not think any of them are set, or doomed. Unfortunately what they need is not being used as a means to an end. Interesting aside, maybe something we even can agree on here lol, Rolly. His dad reminds me of the Puerto Rican dads my friends had when I was growing up in East Harlem. His dad seems to love the kid, does seem to be respected and nurturing to Rolly. Rolly is acward at times and talks a great fight up but IMO he seems to have those authority resources in place and it seems to serve him well. Lopez' dad by comparison really is hard on that kid.
Haney may have won according to the judges but looked very tentative. he will get dropped... Ad we will cry for him... The law does not guarantee that someone is not cheating. Haney found a technical way to come in overweight, that is cheating, even if it not against the law. I am using rationality with no bias... It is a fact that we can never know the extent that Ryan, or any other fighter was "helped" along by taking a steriod.
If you are of the opinion that the steriods are the reason for Ryan's success then bless you. You are entitled to any opinion...just do not call it a fact. And when hankey gets dropped I will send a hankey!

Well said genius! Now let me ask you this question. Who won their fight at Times Square on Friday; Ryan Garcia or Devin Haney? Ok then I rest my case.
Haney was bouncing around the ring, jabbing while landing occasional right hands. While Ryan, fought as if he didn’t want to fight or be there anymore.
I think he mentally checked out well before the Rolly fight. He checked out the moment he tested clean for steroids and PED use.
A reasonable person can deduce when Ryan is not hopped on dope he is a completely different fighter. You and your ilk are just in denial.
Shame on Oscar for putting his guy in there clean with no PEDs in his system. Ryan should just retire. His heart is definitely not in the sport anymore.
He has arguably lost three of his last four fights. That Haney fight was an unofficial loss in my judgement because he cheated.

Ennis and Haney should fight each other and stink the joint out
Winner gets the GOAT Rollies
:boxing:
Canelo old and ducking, Crawford about to retire, tank has fallen, Inoue too Japanese for Americans, Rolly to come in and be the new face of boxing
I am not a fan of Ryan's just someone who feels like Haney is a train wreck waiting to happen.:lol1:. Your missing my point. I agree about the fight, it was peculiar, I just do not think you can ascribe it to chemical use...Maybe. I would never tell you that the amount of whatever Ryan took definitely DID NOT influence him... We can never know thats a fact. And no there is no great correlation to a Ryan who came in against Haney with no neck, no nads, a deep voice, ripped to shreds... that would suggest a major chemical influence. Even the test results show a paltry amount in his system.
So the kid had a bad fight... Ryan could lose 10 more fights and be counted out as having no heart, being scared etc and still turn around and win a championship. A bad fight for a young fighter does not make a predestined career. There is nothing broken about Ryan, he is not even thirty! Your quite a hypocrite in how much levity you extend to Devin compared to Ryan. You also use a law to conveniently overlook Devin's cheating. He weighed more than Ryan for their fight ahem!
Lol, by your definition? Haney is ten times more broken than Ryan! :lol1:. Ryan had a bad outing, Haney lost to Ryan, lost to a Messican in a street fare, with backup, and did not look any better than Ryan last fight.

Numbers don’t lie. The fact is that the Garcia/Romero bout set a record for the second least amount of punches thrown in compubox history.
Scull/Canelo was the least amount of punches thrown in compubox history. Now back to Ryan Garcia.
You fanboys have to realize that Garcia’s troubles runs much deeper than just substance abuse. He is now a broken and lost fighter.
He showed no signs of life or fight in there against Rolly Romero. After that second round knockdown. He just simply refused to try.
The difference between Haney and Garcia is that Haney is not a broken fighter. He is just a scarred one as a result of his fight with Ryan.
All he needs to do is to relax, loosen and lighten up more. I thought he fought too anxiously against Ramirez. He was very tense and tight in there.
Which was understandably so. After his ordeal with a notorious steroid cheat. Whenever Garcia managed to land those left hooks on Romero he ate them.
There was no excuse for Ryan Garcia losing to a fighter like Rolly. Who had been dropped and stopped several times in his career and was considered a gatekeeper status.
Now contrast that against Devin Haney who had never lost, been dropped or stopped before in his career. Yet Ryan Garcia still managed to overwhelm and dominate him with his punching power.
So goddamn it. Don’t tell me that PED use did not play a significant in role Garcia’s performance against Devin Haney. The empirical evidence is just too stunning and astounding.

I know no such thing. Members who are experts on Peds will tell you that we do not know what effects this drug had on Ryan. You are assuming that the drug is responsible for Ryan being listless. It could have been the time off, or, was he really that defunct? I mean his jab was good, maybe Rolly just neutralized the hook. You have a love affair with Devon... Get a room

You know I am right and about 95 percent of the members on this forum knows I am right. Had Ryan Garcia been clean with no PEDS in his system against Devin Haney he would have gotten his ass whupped.
Just like Rolly did to him. A doped up Ryan hopped up on steroids is super fast, strong, big and powerful. He is off of them now and he ain't shit! To tell you the truth. Rolly was being set up to fail. He was a cherrypicked safe opponent.
Ryan Garcia only picked him because he believed he was a ruined fighter. Whose skills have diminished and best years were behind him..

Lmao hankey got whooped because he got caught with Ryan's left hook. Hankey lost to a better fighter whos also his size. Stop crying
Get the fuck outta here! Rolly ain’t shit. All Ryan had to do is throw punches to get him out of there but he couldn’t; Because without that dope in his system Ryan Garcia ain’t shit!
Good on Rolly for snatching the upset. I was telling everyone it was his retirement party. Had no idea Ryan would show up looking timid and scared and get dropped. Guess without the PEDs, Ryan really is as mediocre as everyone been saying. So yeah, Rolly deserved the W and I hope he can score a few nice paychecks before he faces another dude with a pulse and flattens him. I still think his chin is suspect and mostly cracked. Ryan never tried to test it.

I don't think so. He would always have the puncher's chance but he defeated a man that was damaged goods in there on Friday night.Who was both clean and steroid/PED free.
Which subsequently effected his overall performance. Without doping; Ryan Garcia is a totally different fighter. He never defeated Devin Haney but the steroid/PEDS he took did.
