Torres has lots of "early", chaotic energy early in fights that will give a lot of LAZY heavyweights a hard time. He makes his opponents work or get outhustled BUT that seems to be his only game plan. A really steady, technical fighter or precise puncher will spoil his ascent up the heavyweight ladder. He's too reliant on volume that isn't particularly precise. He's got some good thing going for him but damn he looks reckless and uncomposed sometimes. Fast, chaotic volume won't work on every Heavyweight opponent. He needs to add some more to his arsenal. I'm not sure he can add much though...Maybe.
Torrez was the clear winner but he needs to go to the body more and I'd like to see him develop a better, stronger straight left.
He should watch some Dwight Muhammad Qawi fights to pick up some tricks on how to jab taller opponents as the shorter man.
Guido just has poor balance and body coordination/
Makmudov has even worst balance and coordination, that's why Guido looked decent in that fight and got the win. This fight with Torrez was ugly from both fighters.
Torrez definitely needed a test, but was this it? I'm willing to admit that it could have just been a bad style matchup. But the kid needs work. He has no defense or self-control. He's a brawling bull - exciting, and good at that, but it he wants to be a boxer like he keeps saying, get some new people behind you. I like the kid so I will see what happens next, but this was a disaster all around.
He's a bum and his style will never change. He is what he is. Guido looked like he started boxing last year, can literally not throw a punch on the inside and can't throw a jab. Fight was embarrassing.
They were going to give it to Torrez unless he got laid out. The Italian was really having it tough... Hard to hit a guy who comes in and just grabs, head butts and tries to hit you back of the head... Toney Galento style! This kid better get a corner and improve fast or he is getting pasted!
This resembled backyard boxing
lmao
And those cards were pretty wide imo

yeah... I mean his corner should have at least calmed him down. and helped him with his sense of distance and timing. It was in the ninth round when he actually started to get a feel for distance but he got hit! He launches his shots and does not have the explosiveness of a really hard hitter.
I see traits similar to Marciano but Marciano really had a punch that was an equalizer and was very crafty despite the appearance of being just a brawler. Marciano knew how to crouch, leap in and hit hard enough to make a difference.. Torrez just does not seem to possess such power, certainly not an understanding of the craft. he will get pasted (at this rate at least) the first time he fights a guy who can time him, slide over and catch him. I hope he can improve, but as you say: he needs a real trainer, at the very least.

Couldn’t agree with you more

Has Torrez been secretly getting trained by Marcus Browne? Haven’t seen a guy just leap into another fighter every possible second like that in years
That statement is dispectfull for Browne bro ...
Torrez just doesn't have the dynamism to have success with his lack of height, there's no real explosiveness there, he's very straight forward.
A shame because the division could do with him being good.

He seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeriously should consider getting a new one. He's gone as far as he can with his pops.
Torrrez does not have fast legs or very fast hands. He will have a hard time with a tall boxer that can jab the whole fight. He doesn't have the defense or counter ability
