Gotta admire Plant's shoe collection after being mentored by shoe collector Wart who mentored Plant so he could git KOed by Canelo.
Who knows what shape he'll turn up in for Cornflake, I know he isn't great but if he fights the fight of his life and Charlo comes in really rusty maybe he can pull off the upset. No one really cared about Charlo/Plant anyway so these tuneups are pointless.
Charlo taking on Plant already should have been in his best interests. Taking on Cornflake (supposedly as a tuneup) for less money won't make sense.
It's up to Charla whether or not this goes the distance
If he exchanges and fights to win, Plant via KO
If Charla goes in there to survive, Plant via UD.
They have learned nothing at all from JuanMa/Salido when they blew the JuanMa/Gamboa fight at 126.
You don't have to go as far back as Lopez/Gamboa. Jermall himself got arrested and charged with DWI and lost his WBC belt. Weeks prior he was announcing a potential fight with Canelo. The very fight he always wanted thus avoiding taking other fights for fear of getting derailed. There are other recent cases.
I only do predictions on fights with scheduled dates. Otherwise, it's mere fantasy. Not fair to the guy I predicted to lose because he has no way of proving me wrong.
Charlo if he is focused and disciplined. I just think that he is the overall better fighter.
Also, he is undefeated. Every time Plant raised his level of opposition he’d always lost (Canelo, Benavidez).
Don’t say Anthony Dirrell either because both of the Dirrell boys were diminished the moment they fought stiffer opposition.
Which is why so-called building up or marinating fights don't make any sense to me. It always assumes everything will come according to plan. No long-term injuries, no negotiation issues, no personal issues, mental health problems, brush with the law, network/promoter issues, money issues, not to mention suffer an upset loss, you name it.
Bottom line is no one can predict what happens next week, or the next. Man, I don't even know what happens tomorrow.
Yeah, even tuneups entail risks. With very little reward, unfortunately.
And training costs are expensive. Probably why Spence has retired.
It'll be embarassing for Plant if he loses, since im guessing the fight will be at his weight, won't be at 160. On top of that Charlo has had 2 fights in 4 n a half years, Benavidez and Montiel, and another journeyman next month.
I'd be surprised if Charlo would fight twice this year. Even if he does, fights are not that easy to make in this sport and end up not happening at all.
Which is why it would be better for his case to get the most lucrative fight available and not waste time on tuneup fights.

Who cares at this point. 1 or 2 years too late. Lost it's luster. Plant got dropped 2x vs Burt Reynolds kid, although the ref was incompetent and didn't call em. Charlo will continue to be a headcase, all the while that corrupt and fat pos Sulaiman will say this is for a guaranteed spot vs CON-elo

Considering Plant was manhandled by cherry pick McCumby until an asterisk TKO win, it's not a guarantee he gets past Resendiz.
Maybe it'll be Resendiz vs Cornflake...
