I have seen many his fights from both eras and I don`t get it, why is he a legend. Lyle fight for example, I just see two big sluggers throwing bombs without defense. Skill level was very poor.
Not a fan, but Foreman had a hell of a chin, I give him that. It is hard to take all this bombs, having no defense and stay healthy.
Skill wise, he was about at Kownacki`s level.
And he was one of top guys in 90`s. That says a lot about 90`s hw era.
We never saw a prime Foreman, which is a little sad. He let himself get mind fcked in Zaire and didn't recover for about 10 years. Foreman's would be prime he spent preaching the gospel.
Foreman even with his slowness was able to land punches. Extremely heavy handed was more a clubber than a one punch KO artist.
There is an article "What it feels like getting hit by George Foreman" and the fighters there will tell you how it felt. I will take their word over anyone's
The jab is bone crunching.
Left uppercut turns you into human giraffe.
The right uppercut also elongates the neck and makes you unintentionally gallop away like some sort of Equidae.
The left hook to head and body is like being hit baseball bat.
The right hook again to head and body is the equivalent of being hit by a sledgehammer.
The right straight will go through anything its aimed at and i mean a short and sweet right cross not a run up Wilder right hand ,standing still short straight right and its good night.
Any punch Foreman threw did tremendous damage.
You are the funniest poster on her only you make me laugh on this site dude, anorak used to but its great seeing you in a thread
On the subject of Foreman, the guy had power in both hands and could generate it from any angle
His accuracy of full blown power punches in combination is something to behold..
Foreman was far more technical than you give him credit.he would obliterate 95 percent of heavyweights that ever lived
I'll go you one better. 5% of the total Heavyweights of the Modern 130 years era = 2,997. I say, there's no 2,997 heavyweights who Foreman would fail to obliterate. I think we're looking at more like 99.8%.
Probably not, Kownacki doesn`t have n.1. world class chin, as I already stated.
I now understand what a pseudo intellectual is..you are the definition i'm afraid.
he was no wilder...

So the guy with Kownacki level skills is one if the best hravyweights ever, you think?
Is hw division that bad?
If the heavyweight division was "that bad".....they wouldn't need weight divisions. Big thinker.
"You don't get it."
Olympic Gold Medalst.
Knocked out prime Ken Norton in 2 rounds, then prime Joe Frazier in 2 rounds to win the Heavyweight Championship of the world, to then come back 20 years later and win the Heavyweight championship of the world again AT 44 year old vs an undefeated Moorer.
But "you don't get it".
Yeah I don't think you ever will.
This about says it.
Foreman had, in addition to what is very obvious; otherworldly timing.
Even if you were just as big and strong; he'd nail you; and you'd be gone.
That poster is suggesting that this is nothing that Mark Gastineau couldn't do? Lol.
Foreman's punch selection, brutal power, and sturdy chin pretty much meant he didn't need to be a technical wizard. Therein lies his greatness.
Also, I won't live in a house that is not equipped with a Foreman grill.

Rocksolid resume.
For one he had some of the most effective timing, tempo/rhythm and shot selection ever at HW, which is how he kept catching people and hurting them even with seemingly slow shots. He would tap, tap, tap then BAM.
Good jab too along with obviously excellent power and chin.
Crazy that George Foreman just died two days ago and you decide to make a thread to do down talk him.
What if he didn't look slick or flashy, he had superb timing and punch selection to capitalize on his punching power.
Besides his chin being made of granite, when he need to he had an active cross armed highguard to block/parry, to make it difficult to catch him clean, it is likely that based on his punching power, his opponents also refrained from fully committing to engage him.
He is a two time world champion and golden Olympic medalist. He still competed at the top level up to his late forties becoming the oldest world heavyweight champion in history. He beat Joe Frazier X2, Ken Norton, and Michael Moorer.more than just a slugger
the greatest slugger in heavyweight boxing history
Big George was good at applying pressure too
the last heavyweight from the golden era is now gone
George the slugger
Ali the boxer
Frazier the swarmer

Kownacki level skills in your mind and your mind only.
Kownacki couldn't compete at the Olympics in his wildest dreams let alone win a Gold medal.
Foreman has more talent and ability in one finger than Kownacki could ever dream of having.
Wouldn’t even waste your time with this troll mate.
He can’t be serious with such an egregious opinion.
