I feel like tank davis took canelos blueprint and just extended it for his entire career. Let's give canelo credit for snapping out of his bum parade but he seems to have gone back to the classics after benavidez took his soul so he's back to the bums and little men. Can you think of a worse 6 fight title run from a heavily promoted star?
Most of Canelo's resume is smoke and mirrors, one of the most perfectly engineers 'great fighters' of all time. Barely ever took a real risk his whole career. The biggest one was when he moved up to 160lbs to fight a 35 year old who he actually outweighed anyway.
except thats not true? some fighters do this yes, and its not a good thing. no fighter is above criticism. i wouldt call mathew hatton and a bunch of flops and tiny fighters working hard but ok sure thing. he manufactured his way to the top. he was an industry plant essentially. good fighter no doubt as we found out later but just a funny way to get to the top. we shouldnt have to wonder is this guy good or not? a guy like wilder tried the same strategy and he completely flopped
how so??? he followed the same blueprint ALL top fighters did... from floyd, to pacman, etc!!! when you are at the top, you aint gonna be hurting for $$$ and will take all fights given to you... no, you aint gonna do that... you gon pick the easiest fight and the highest reward.
They gave him 4 rounds consecutive rounds at the start and the round where he lifted Bivol up WWE style out of frustration. I think he won at best 3 rounds and not consecutively in a row like it is shown in the scorecards.
from my recollection there was only 1 clear round he won in the fight and it wasnt 1 of the first 4, maybe round 9? these guys are laughable
am i just hating but i only thought canelo won 2 rounds maybe 3 against bivol. the judges were fully bloated with mexican meat in the first 4 rounds

To me, Alvarez's record against dangerous opposition would be 7-4, 3 KOs or 8-3, 3 KOs. I am undecisive about Lara, because while he moved and picked his shots well making the fight quite competitive, think he got outhustled by body work and over hands.
From difficulty level:
Wins over:
Cotto (HOF but quite in the downslide though still dangerous)
Trout
C. Smith
Saunders
Jacobs
Plant
Kovalev (To a degree as he is coming off a big fight from a few months ago and has a rehydration clause)
Golovkin X2 (HOF though in the third match GGG was in his 40s)
Losses:
Mayweather (HOF)
Golovkin (HOF)
Bivol (HOF)
???:
Lara

that is kind of the point. canelo turned out to be good no doubt but guys like wilder and tank tried to emulate canelos career when they werent the real deal. its not a very nice thing to do to try and pass off guys as top tier talent when they arent. sometimes yes it turns out they are, but sometimes with wilder and tank...they arent. the nice thing to do would be just to promote the guys who are actually good and actually willing to fight the best. took awhile for canelo and recently he went back to his ducking and tiny fighter ways but at least he had a good career in the middle

Think that is the path of most pro boxers though some take the harder fights. What seems odd to me is that they use the name of high profile fighters that were highly faded like Mosley and Cotto to promote Canelo's resume, laying them out without any context. Despite that these fighters were in a state that they could lose to lesser contenders or champions.
Also don't like that he used stipulations as anti-risks like catchweights and rehydration for a lot of fights early on after moving on from upcomer stage, he also fights smaller opponents for my liking. Hatton, Khan, Lopez, Charlo and looks like Crawford is next. He had a few controversial win decisions when he saw high risk high reward opponents over GGG (Draw as well, but at least Canelo ran it back), Lara and almost Bivol.

Not denying he has a pretty good resume, with wins over Trout, Lara, Golovkin, Jacobs, Saunders, Plant and some other notable wins that most champions wish they had if they had the opportunities he had, which is high rate run. But his fanbase seems to quite really overestimate the quality of his resume stating he beat 21+ champions. But reality is closer that he beat about 8-9 prime opponents, and he didn't beat all of them that convincingly while giving a lot of benefit of the doubt in the scorecards against Mayweather and Bivol.

In 3-2-1 something or someone will be compared to Tank or Wilder courtesy of the thread starter

- - Gomez had numerous fights over 147 and is listed superwelt in Boxrec
Mosely previous lineal fights start with Mayorga, Margarita, l'l floydy, Sergi Mora, and Pacquiao, Canelo was 21 coming up from a 15yr 140lber.
Citron was 3-2-1 over his last 6 fights.
Josesito was an emergency replacement.
Yeah, Rhodes solid
Me thinks thou dost protest too much...yeah
you are being way too generous to canelo. hatton was a ww and not good. gomez was fighting at ww at the time and he wasnt good. mosley hadnt won a fight in more than 3 years and was also moving up from ww. cintron lost 2 of 3 with his last fight being at 149. joseito was a ww and had more than 2 months to prepare for the fight. thats not an emergency replacement.
07/11/2012- Saul Alvarez - Josesito Lopez Confirmed For 9/15 On Showtime - Boxing News 24
rhodes was the only legit 154 pounder and the only guy ranked in the top 10 by ring. decent fight but thats a pretty laughable title run. a wilder run dare i say.

The fight was suppose to be for Victor Ortiz but he lost to Joselito and he got the shot.
ALL top fighters have done the same as canelo!!! canelo is following the blueprint of the fighters that came before him!!! fans just want a fighter to keep fighting the best fighters one after another... what's the point of working hard to get to where canelo is at if he cant call his own shot? that's the whole point of putting the work in early so you can enjoy the fruits later!! if you worked your way up to a CEO position, you are not gonna be busting your ass off like when you were an entry level position.

Daggum always does his disappearing act what made to look like the brain dead fool that he is :lol1:
he compared beating the ring champ to beating mathew hatton and you took his side lol. im brain dead? its getting bad out here...
When you pull something like this out of context , context being the whole career, just to get a balanced perspective other than trying to hate on a guy.
For instance, you could say he is following the Manny blueprint only better because he didn't get stopped and saved by the ref in his first 6 title fights
Gabrial Mira 7 losses
Sangsurat Lost TKO
Jamili 5 losses
Arnel Barotillo 50% losing resume
Chae is undefeated with a laughable resume
Nedal Hussain was saved from a KO loss by a corrupt referee that admitted it on camera.
It's easy to pull BS out of context and make it stand alone if you wanna hate on a fighter because every great has periods of struggle and even losses, but if you look at their entire resume in context, they are great fighters.
manny literally beat the ring champ in his very first title fight so thats an automatic fail for you right off the bat. manny didnt fight for a vacant title against welterweight mathew frickin hatton. are you kidding? why did you omit that? oh yeah because it blows up your entire argument.
the point is canelo was matched super soft for marketing purposes. canelo is essentially a nepo-boxer. out of all the people to try and compare him to you choose the guy who is literally the opposite? a guy who came from nowhere to beat the #1 guy. i dont even know anymore...
and if you want to look at mannys first 6 real title fights they were against the ring champion, 2 easy defenses, he got ko'd, his next legit title fight was against the #2 ranked guy at 122, then he had a unification fight at 122.
