Not long ago the popular opinion on a match
up between Shakur and Tank seemed to significantly favor Tank. This opinion seemed to be held by legit boxing fans, many of whom feel/felt that Tank has the power and resources to catch Shakur.
It now looks like the consensus has changed a bit... At least on this site. How so? Is one to believe that based on the blast two fights, one for each fighter really demonstrated much of anything?
Let me briefly explain... Tank has shown himself vulnerable to pressure before. Some of us believe Cruz beat him, regardless the fight was close. Roach may have been underestimated, he certainly was by myself, but his success was his ability to keep pressure on Tank. Shakur is not a guy who applies pressure as a primary fighting strategy. In fact, Shakur's ability to KO his last opponent matters little. Unless someone thinks he will KO tank.
I am wondering what changed? Tank has had gifts given before with decisions, he has shown a reliance on his power and ability to wreck his opponents before... Ditto for Shakur who certainly can come in for the kill when out-boxing his opponent(s).
I do not wonder why each of you has an opinion about who wins this fight... I wonder why some of you feel like the last fight(s) told us much of anything about this match up. I will share my opinion later...
Fugh the guys here
Need to look no further than the boos Tank received at the end of the fight
He looked baffled by what he was hearing and a little shook if you ask me
I think his gist is up unless he beats Shakur and shows some balls moving along
This Roach fiasco has really bitten him in the ass so to say
Hope so. I'd like to see him either finally get the bug to really prove himself and take on all comers, or do what he's been teasing and GTFO. Won't fault him for either choice.
No way man. You can't be a Tank fan without 1. loving the KO's, which Shakur doesn't deliver, and 2. being utterly delusional. Tank fans say things like "he's a 4 division champion" and "Inoue isn't a real star and doesn't make real money, and won't until he fights Tank in the US". Can't even make that stuff up. Those things have come out of the mouths of certain posters on here that we both know unfortunately well, of late. One told me that I don't know anything about boxing if I can't acknowledge Tank as a P4P great... Those nuthuggers will never switch to Shakur, especially as Tank won't ever fight him.

Redemption ???
Plus if he doesn’t warrant Roach a rematch his fans might turn into Shakur fans

Maybe? Tank is much more interesting to watch though. People actually leave while Shakur fights, and boo him even when he wins by KO. Not sure why ANYONE successful needs to fight him.

Well I think Tank actually needs Shakur’s more than vice versa
Especially if he doesn’t warrant Roach a rematch

That being said, I really doubt Tank fights him, unless this wakeup call with Roach ignited something in him.

Couldn’t agree with you more
Shakur is just what Tank’s resume is looking for
But we all know that the power will just take everything away from Stevenson’s game
He’ll taste canvas and hard

Josh Padley was laying hands on Shakur... Are we prepared to claim that Padley is better than Tank now? Because if Tank catches Shakur like Padley did, I'm thinking he tastes the canvas. And Shakur doesn't have power so he can't keep Tank honest. And he'll be even more gunshy than he was vs DLS, when they set a divisional record for fewest punches thrown in a title fight. I still think he's a much more limited fighter than people claim, and never belonged on P4P lists, but styles make fights and Shakur has holes that are exactly the kind of holes that Tank takes advantage of. Not to mention Shakur would be the B-side and PBC would be running the show, so there's no chance he gets the benefit of the judges cards that he usually enjoys. I think Tank got exposed, but that doesn't mean Shakur would beat him.
And great job from Roach. Kudos to him, and he absolutely got robbed and jobbed. NYSAC should be ashamed of themselves for the "Willis got it wrong but we're not doing anything about it" crap.

Tank is a bad match for Shakur. For Shakur to set traps he has to engage Tank, if he starts chasing a puncher or if he stops a split second to admire his work Tank is smart enough to catch him. Real elite level boxers have power... Even Camacho who gets accused of being a runner could nail you when he felt he really needed to do so.
I think he'd knock Shakur the absolute hell out.
I don't care how skilled he is or he is supposed to be he just straight up doesn't have the power to command Tanks respect in my opinion.
I think Tank would just walk through his a$$, straight up.
The Martin fight all over again really only Martin actually has a bit of pop.
I'll virtually always take who I feel is the better technical boxer but this for me simply comes down to Tank can take whatever Shakur has and Shakur isn't going to like what comes back. You're not playing keep away for 12 rounds against Tank. He was like a cat 5h!tt1ng razor blades vs Dos Santos the hell he gonna be like vs Tank? Fool will probably run out the ring.
A prized tuna caught off the coast of Japan has very rare qualities that make it worth a fortune... This Tuna? went for like 500k maybe more... Because even amongst the best tuna caught, this tuna had rare fat content in the belly, etc...
Tank has that same set up because of his power... People forget how rare real game changing power is amongst the lighter weight classes... Pitbull who hits hard, and I believe is excellent does not come close to that power that Tank has. So naturally when we really look at Shakur one has to consider Tank is able to make Shakur retreat and to catch him. I agree with you. If Tank is really losing he can make Shakur engage...

Damn right
I think Shakur won’t be able to answer anything Tank has for him and will not be able to run for 12

I’ll tell you what ; he was milder by Floyd so that don’t say much about Floyd’s character
But as a fighter , Tank’s name should not be mentioned with Floyd’s
Floyd made him into what he became. That is the unfortunate truth.
Shakur is almost 28 and hasnt beat nobody. Floyd beat a lot of good fighters by 28. Floyd was a significantly better fighter in every department than Shakur. I dont see Shakur easily defeating pac never having to leave first gear like floyd did.
Would Shakur also be on steroids in this hypothetical?
I could see Shakur becoming this generation's Floyd in that he's going to have to stay undefeated to keep folks watching him and he's going to plan on his career based on staying undefeated. I can see him avoiding true threats because once he loses, nobody will tune in to watch again. His style is a good sleep aid and I can attest that it worked once or twice on me perfectly.

Shakur was able to survive vs. De Los Santos, who's similar to Davis but is slightly taller/longer. I'm not saying that Davis is incapable of stopping Shakur, but he cannot afford to be offensively lazy. He needs to be ready to feint and throw decoy punches to coerce Shakur into engagement, rather than waiting and capitalizing on what Shakur gives him. If Davis is not ready to let his hands go, then Shakur may very well slow the fight down to a crawl and make Davis look the worst he's ever looked. I think Zepeda has the best chance to give Shakur fits.
Excellent points.
I hope they fight when both are prime I don't want excuse makers like Big Dunn and Iron Dan trying to give full credit for beating a 45 year old
You mean like you did when you gave Toney full credit for beating a 41 year old Evander Holyfield? :lol1: :lol1:
Does it ever get embarrassing for you being the biggest and most pathetic hypocrite on this site?
