I think you are overestimating their notoriety
When you mention MMA guys being in movies...
Are they "4th henchman from the left (non speaking role)" ?
Throwing out names and expecting them to be household names is not how it works.
Unless you live in an octagon.
I think its more that you're underestimating, massively. The UFC is a fucking behemoth of a promotion, has been since the late 00s. They are giving these guys a far bigger platform to be seen than boxing promotions are able to give anybody. Go look at social media followings and YT views for these guys compared to boxers on average. Boxing didnt even gave a major video game release for over a decade for fucks sake. AJ and Fury had to be featured in UFC games lol.
Again, imagine being a boxing fan and trying to argue with the MMA fan equivalent of you - do you think they consider Tank, Crawford, Inoue, Beterbiev, Bivol etc to be stars? many of them have no idea who those guys are.
Imagine being in such a bubble that you dont know who Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, Khabib, GSP etc are :lol1:
How many MMA guys have been in movie roles, involved with stuff like the WWE etc at this point? granted Usyk has a movie role coming up too... playing MMA fighter igor Vovchachyn LOL. He also has recently talked about potentially doing a crossover fight with Pereira. Ngannou walked straight into a boxing match with Fury and AJ. Canelo sat in his locker room for an extra hour so his own crowd could watch Nate/Jorge. The biggest drawing boxing match of the last almost decade now is Floyd vs Conor. But yeah nobody knows these guys...
The funny thing is as a fan of both I see the exact same **** slinging going in the other direction. Do you realise how many MMA casuals there are out there going "Jake Paul is the face of boxing" "boxing needs Youtubers and MMA fighters to generate interest" "the biggest boxing match of the year is a Youtuber vs 60 year old Mike Tyson" etc etc nowadays?
Anyway, I gave you a serious answer to your ATGs question, giving you the benefit of the doubt that you might have actually genuinely wanted to learn. But whatever lol.

I mean for fucks sake if you ever watch Top Rank for one you'll be hearing about/seeing UFC names considering they routinely plug upcoming UFCs during the broadcasts since they're both ESPN.

"How known/popular are (fill in those names) ?"

I would do it but I already know the answer

Jones, GSP, Fedor and Anderson are generally considered to be the Mt Rushmore. They all had long dominant runs at a high level and are considered the best ever at their weight. Then you have guys like Khabib, Aldo and DJ who some might throw in the mix with them.
As far as active ATGs - Jon, Aldo, Adesanya, Usman, Volk, Ngannou are all around but in the twilight of their careers. Holloway isnt too old but he has a lot of mileage and just got knocked out for the first time ever so its hard to say what stage of his career hes at now. Then theres guys on the verge of ATG status like Islam, Topuria and Merab, maybe Khamzat if he can stay healthy and be more active.
Lastly, Alex Pereira, who fights next week. He was arguably the greatest kickboxer ever at his weight, then switched to MMA a few years ago and was fast tracked because of his history with the UFC champ at his weight at the time Adesanya (who he beat in kickboxing twice back in the day), he then took the UFC belt off him too, later moved up a weight class and took the belt there, and is now probably the biggest actual active full time star in MMA. I wouldnt say hes quite at ATG status purely in MMA yet, but he definitely is if you look at him as an overall combat sport athlete considering hes had massive success in two different sports. On paper next week is probably his toughest fight yet in MMA though, the guy hes fighting is the bogeyman who people claim the UFC was protecting him from.

You mean YOU dont know about them. Theres been at least as many mainstream names coming out of MMA as boxing in the last 15-20 years.
Please, school me
There are so few MMA "greats" that are recognized outside of the sport
You mean YOU dont know about them. Theres been at least as many mainstream names coming out of MMA as boxing in the last 15-20 years.
The "A" part of MMA eludes me......
Looks like people just kicking, "punching" and wrestling to me
But let me guess, you think boxing, a much more simple sport, is the "sweet SCIENCE" right?
Your whole condescending tone towards MMA ("greats""punching" etc) makes it clear you're one of those boxing fans thats always gonna be stubbornly set in your ways about it. It is what it is
Yeah thats why Lucas Browne got KTFO by ****ing Jim York, a C level journeyman who never made it to the UFC and lost to 5'9 40 something decade past prime Jeff Monson in his next fight. And why Claressa Shields gets "fed" chicks with losing records and/or barely any more MMA experience than her only to end up going life and death with them lol.
Theres an entire industry of cans designed to pad up and comers records in boxing. Many wont even try to win because they know what their role is. Thats not a thing in other combat sports.

Does it even have a HOF ???

Yes? so a completely unremarkable MMA career. What are you trying to say?
Another one crossed my mind - Fabio Maldonado. Dude went 26-0 in boxing beating up cans. You cant pad your record like that in MMA.
Boxing cans > MMA journeymen
LB with the 6-2; 6 KO's MMA career :fing02:

You didn't know that Jon Jones was significantly larger at 6 ft 4 with an 84 1/2 inch reach walking around at 240+ lbs compared to Ken Shamrock at 6 ft 1 with a 73 inch reach that walks around at what, 220 or so max? Are you blind?
Ken was at his biggest when he came back to his MMA after his WWF run. Dude was utterly juiced to the fucking gills at that point, but also pushing 40 and the game had evolved while he was away so it didnt make much difference.
But yeah, Jon has a naturally larger frame and Kens skills pretty much everywhere were absolutely rudimentary in comparison, he'd lose to practically everyone Jon beat. The evolution of MMA skills in first decade or so was so rapid that a lot of those early guys got left behind really quickly.
You realise there have been MMA guys who had long boxing careers right?
Lucas Browne for one. Dillian Whyte was more of a kickboxer but he did briefly dabble in MMA before moving to boxing. Clay Collard not all that long ago was being dubbed the prospect killer.
Boxing is not ****ing rocket science, its punching people in the face. And yes, that applies the other way too, plenty of boxers could make the transition to MMA if they took the time to adapt.

Boxing is not rocket science if the only tool a guy has is a left hook.
"Jon is quite a bit bigger than Ken, and a much better wrestler. I think people tend to underestimate how physically strong and imposing he is because he doesnt LOOK it on the surface."
Maybe I am underestimating Jon Jones. I don't follow MMA closely. My impression of Jones is based on his reign as UFC LHW champ, his PED controversies and his ducking of Ngannou and Aspinall after moving up to HW. If he is bigger than Shamrock and a better wrestler then I would call Jones vs Tyson with no rules a 50/50 fight. Either one would have the ability to beat the other if luck went their way.
Yeah, no shit you are and no shit you don't follow MMA closely :lol1:

Jones is much better in EVERY CATERGORY to Ken Shamrock and that's not hyperbole, there is not one single area where Jones isn't significantly superior to Ken Shamrock. Where did you even land on Ken Shamrock of all people to be the one guy you think could beat Tyson?
Also, don't know why you're throwing the PED use in there when Shamrock was also caught using PEDs.
"It definitely matters what kind of Jiu jitsu the guy did."
Not to the guy I was talking too. He is saying that any kind of Ju-Jitsu black belt would easily tap me out in less than 30 seconds, which I know to be bullshit.
Of course it matters.
But it doesn't make a difference to the fact he'd tap you out in 30 seconds if his black belt is in any way legitimate. The fact you think you could grapple with any kind of Jiu Jitsu black belt and not be totally dominated like a little boy is hilarious :lol1:
*Scoots bum across the floor and reaches for your ankle* :flirt:
Notice you're showing/talking about traditional buttscooter GI BJJ again. Its not the same as MMA grappling is it?
3 fights in when the rude awakening hits them ?

Like I said, a lot of people underestimate how big and strong he actually is because he doesnt look all that imposing ie he isnt a mountain of muscle like Ngannou or Brock. But hes 6'4 with freakish Tyson Fury reach, theres video of him deadlifting like 600lbs or something as well. Bear in mind both his brothers were defensive linemen in the NFL and are huge dudes too, so it speaks to his genetics.
