Benavidez's high guard is fantastic

Benavidez has always had a great high guard because he has a strong defense with it and he can fire shots right out of his guard. Couple that with his reflexes and accuracy, that's what makes his opponents panic.

Im impressed by his entire tool set great win hell of a good fighter, David vs Beterbiev would be a classic. He destroys beterbiev that boy too damn fast and accurate....running bivol would be harder, but he used to beat on bivol in sparring so... His accuracy and relentless scares canelo all benevidez needs is a slight crease and he touching that spot

The funny thing was that Morrell was calling him Robocop for having a static high guard, but Benavidez had an active high guard and intercepted most of what was coming at him, while Morrell himself was static in his high guard shell and Benavidez was stripping it or landing uppercuts through it and hooks around it basically at will. He either didn't follow the gameplan, or their gameplan was trash.

Trunks seem standard, nothing like Fury level. He has monkey arms which allow him to cover the whole front his body and face like a shield, plus he watches every punch coming like a hawk.

Shame he couldn't get the canelo fight as I think he looked better at 168 but he's still a danger at 175. He was the much better man tonight that's for sure. Enjoyed his uppercuts.

It's especially effective with his trunks pulled up to his nips. But no, Benavidez's defense is definitely underrated.

He has very long arms that very effectively offer a good shield. The numbers for his reach, which is actually just a fighter's wingspan, do not reflect the fact that David has very narrow shoulders and very long arms. that's my theory anyway.

All I got to say. Doesn't get mentioned enough. It was extremely effective tonight against Morrel.
